Plantar fasciitis - alternative sandals required?

So i should add that i think i have Plantar fasciitis because my feet seem to now really ache after wearing these a while (fitflop Gracie). Could anyone suggest alternatives or why this might ne happening? I'm sure it was a better last year, would it work with an insole?

If you have plantular fasciitis it's painful rather than just aching. I had that a couple of years ago, and getting out of bed in the morning was agony, I had to clutch onto the wall until it eased. It's like a burning stabbing pain in the arch of your foot.

Oofos worked for me!

I had fitflops once, they really hurt my back! I think they make you walk differently for some reason so maybe just try another brand.

If you’ve got plantar fasciitis you need to wear shoes that are attached to your foot. Flip-flops, sliders etc are no good as you change the shape of your foot to keep them on.
You need a slight heel in a shoe, absolutely no ballet flats/converse etc
Good supportive trainers are ideal.

you need sports sandals problem is finding one that looks nice

Fitflops and Skechers actually cured my PF when all manner of expensive recommended by podiatrist stuff didn't.
You need something with arch fit for PF. Definitely nothing flat.

PF hurts sharply when the foot hasn't been moving for a while (that's why it's worse first thing in the morning) so if you've been on your feet all day, it might be that the ache isn't related to PF.

I wear nothing but Strive sandals now. They take a few wears to get used to as the arch is very pronounced but they are wonderful.

Feet are really individual, I never found Sketchers or FitFlops or Berkins or Converse comfortable.
When I had PF I lived in Vionics EVA footbed flipflops at home and the relief was immediate. So do check out Vionics they are really really good footwear.

I only found out about Oofos after my PF was gone but I tried them as heard good things. I live in Oofos. I'm on my third pair of oofos sliders and have been wearing them for the past 4 years. The strange thing is that Oofos are incredibly comfortable at home but when I've worn my oofos sliders outside there was no support and my feet ached but I wear Oofos daily as slippers at home ad they feel like heaven.
I haven't tried oofos shoes as they tend to be sold out in my size.

I did calf stretched and held for a good 20 seconds on each leg which helped heal my PF in a couple of weeks. I was suffering for 5 or 6 months with PF prior.

Another one for Sketchers. The arch support ones are great.

Vionic and stride sandals here too. Never go barefoot or in completely flat shoes.

thinkfast · 26/06/2023 09:07

I have the same for flops and some of their original style ones. The original style with the higher heel and more arch support are MUCH more comfortable and softer.

I had PF in both feet(!) about 5 years ago and the pain was indescribable, I could barely walk for about 4 months! If the pain is only after wearing these specific sandals and not intense pain when you get out of bed in the morning or standing up after a period of inactivity, it’s unlikely you have PF, but could be heading that way as those sandals don’t look supportive.

You ideally need a shoe that doesn’t leave your foot as you walk, so either a walking sandal with straps or a soft trainer with arch support (I lived in Skechers for months)

And never ever go barefoot. Shoes go on before your feet hit the ground!
