Box dyes - patch of psoriasis?

I haven't dyed my hair for years. I have a patch of psoriasis on my lower scalp at the back, around 4cm diameter. I assumed that all hair dye would probably be a no-no but I'm getting an increasing number of grey hairs which I would like to cover! Are there any box dyes that are sensitive enough or am I having a laugh?

I have patches and have used box dye and go to hairdressers every 5-6 weeks to get coloured, doesn't make any difference to mine.

I used box dye all the time the LIVE one and I have quite a bit of scalp psoriasis. I won't lie it can burn a lot so I probably dont recommend it.

It will sting like a thousand raging wasps and increase the likelihood of developing an allergic reaction to the chemicals because it'll be getting into your skin. Ever tried putting steroid scalp lotion onto your plaques? I have and it burns for days, if not weeks, before it starts improving - it's so fragile and sore already, the last thing it needs is Ammonia, Hydrogen Peroxide and alcohol on top.

Don't do it. You need a 100% healthy scalp to even consider using hair colourants.

I think it depends what colour you are going.
I have a large patch at the bottom of my scalp, if I go for darker colours then it's fine but anything light (usually has bleach in) is an absolute killer.

@hobbledyhoy which brands do you use?

@NeverDropYourMooncup it's just this one patch that I just can't seem to fully shift. It's always difficult putting lotions and potions on your scalp though isn't it as it just gets so grotty on your hair

@kernowpicklepie I was wondering that. My hair is very thick and dry so bleach wrecks it anyway. So I would only contemplate something darker

I've used Clairon nice and easy and I'm not sure what the hairdresser uses but it is a darker colour so it might be a little different to blonde/stronger bleached ones

If the dye you’re planning to use is close to your natural colour, could you just miss that section out? I no longer dye my hair, but I often used to not bother to colour all the roots through the layers at the back of my head!
