Am I too old for this dress?

Bought This dress today for holiday evenings (tavernas, maybe a local beach bar), I was really pleased with it but now wondering if I’m too old for it, particularly the puff sleeves?
I’m 48, size 8 (in this dress, it’s quite forgiving!)
thanks

I don't think Next got the memo about listing clothes for ages over 16 yrs.
I was expecting a toddler's dress.

BeautifulWar · 20/06/2023 17:28

It looks lovely and classy. I would have worn that in my 20s 30s and now in my 40s. In fact I'm now tempted to buy it myself.

Same!

It's a lovely dress, OP! Enjoy your holiday!

LadyTemperance · 20/06/2023 18:01

It’s fine, though as a larger lady I hate the modern trend for these puffy sleeves. Unless your stick thin they really make you look huge.

Vitriolinsanity · 20/06/2023 18:02

I'm 54 and bought the short version in white!

BranchGold · 20/06/2023 18:03

Honestly, what part of it did you consider to be ‘young’!? Genuinely quite confused.

I'd wear it but I'm 75.

I have friends quite close to 80 and I wouldn't blink if they wore this. I'm sure you would rock it too!

It's not 1940 anymore and the rule / tradition to dress like a granny on your 40th birthday has thank god, been forgotten.

So get the dress and some vans if you like them. My age never comes to my mind when buying clothes. It's all related to the size of my arse. Nothing more

More of a Cos and Muji woman. Air Force Nikes and Penelope Chilvers boots. If I could afford it would be Vivienne Westwood. If you start out in Ossie Clarke and Mary Quant you don't resign yourself to M&S classics department and an elasticated crimplene trouser. I love clothes. There's no age limit.

It's quite unremarkable. Anyone could wear it. I don't think it'll appeal much to the under 25s.

I agree, any age could wear it really but I don't think many younger people would go for it.

NeverendingCircus · 20/06/2023 21:58

gorgeous dress. I'd wear it and I'm 10 years older than you. It's a good compromise between very fashionable and a classic.

Riverlee · 20/06/2023 21:59

Love the orange version, and I’m older than you and would wear it.

IwishIcouldButIcantSoIwont · 20/06/2023 22:01

No! I'm 64 and wear similar dresses. If people think I'm oo old, sod 'em

Highdaysandholidays1 · 20/06/2023 22:04

I don't see teens wearing this dress anyway, mine do wear dresses but tend to be short, strappy and hippyish, festival vibe. I like this dress and I have several outfits like it (although I don't love a too puffy shoulder, this is fine).

TheFairyCaravan · 20/06/2023 22:06

I’m 52 and have 3 or 4 dresses like that from last Summer otherwise I’d buy it.

Booklover40 · 20/06/2023 22:08

Eh? It's a pretty boring long black dress - I clicked on this expecting a crotch-high, skintight, animal print boob tube dress or the like😂

Showersugar · 21/06/2023 13:02

Bideshi · 19/06/2023 21:56

I'd wear it but I'm 75.

Haha clumsy turn of phrase my end, anyone of any age could wear it - that's what I meant 😁
