Opposite to colour enhance shampoo?

weirdo123 · 19/06/2023 18:52

So as per the title, there's often shampoos for those who want to enhance or keep their dyes hair. I however am in the opposite boat as growing my hair dye out and trying to hurry it up. Any products to help?

Don’t know about products but you could always go for a swim at the pool. That always strips my colour right out.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 19/06/2023 20:08

vosene shampoo is fairly rigorous in that respect

HanarCantWearSweaters · 19/06/2023 20:23

Head and shoulders or crushed up vitamin c tablets in your normal shampoo have worked well for me

Astronaut1298 · 19/06/2023 20:27

Head and Shoulders and Crushed Vit C as pp said. It took the majority of dye out of my hair after the first 2 washes, and kept fading with every wash after that

I have been researching this lately and bicarbonate of soda seems popular although I havent tried itvtet myself .

ThePersistenceOfMammories · 19/06/2023 20:45

Bicarbonate of soda and wash with water as hot as you can bear.

weirdo123 · 19/06/2023 22:33

Also do I buy vit c tablets as usual, crush and put in shampoo? How do I know how many tablets to crush per wash? And which head and shoulders shampoo or does it not matter?

So today I mixed 5 crushed vit c tablets wity Pantene shampoo, left tor 20 mins then rinsed. Hair now feels very dry and no noticeable difference yet. When should I see a difference?

Have you tried colour B4 From boots It's great

Baby shampoo will strip most of your colour out (baby's heads are quite greasy) as will head and shoulders.
Leave it on for a couple of minutes and then rinse

Won't colour before turn my hair orange? Cos I'm not dyeing it again

Head and shoulders standard normal

Astronaut1298 · 22/06/2023 21:44

I just used head and shoulders Classic Clean and it worked. The Vitamin C I just used on the first wash, crushed about 5 and then mixed it with the shampoo

weirdo123 · 22/06/2023 22:20

@Astronaut1298 how many times did u do it before it worked? I done this tonight and see a small difference but not lots

I remember washing my hair about 3 times with the shampoo on the first night and I could see the colour coming out in the water. After that I washed it every other day for about a week (i know but I hated the dye) and by the end of the week I had most of my natural hair colour back

Dont know if it makes a difference but I basically only had the dye in my hair for about 2 days before I started the process of getting it out

weirdo123 · 23/06/2023 18:17

Oh mine been in a few months (the dye) and hair is long ish so may take a while longer

You can get special products to strip dye, I've seen them in Superdrug.

LynetteScavo · 23/06/2023 19:23

I think it's Superdrug colour rewind, but if you Google hair dye remover lots come up.

weirdo123 · 25/06/2023 10:25

@LynetteScavo ok thanks I'll try but it won't make my hair go orange will it? As some of these so called hair removers make u go orange and all I wanna do is strip out my old dye, I'm not dying it again

It might make your hair go orange! But if the dye is that dark, it won’t fade much with Vit C it Head and Shoulders, and if it does it would still be orange. You could put toner on if it looks orange I guess, but you might want a colour specialist to do that.

I once had my dye stripped at the hairdressers, and it was orange and the condition afterwards wasn’t good. She also put a dye back on that wasn’t much lighter than my previous- it all cost me a small fortune and l wasn’t pleased with the result.
