Tiny hoop earrings stuck!

Help! DD(15) put in some tiny hoop earrings ages ago and we cannot get them out. Have tried with our fingers, pliers, I even took her to a jewellers but no joy. The issue is it's so tiny and close to her earlobe, it's impossible to get a grip on it.

I think the next step is to go to a piercing place but I'd rather not have to. I told her I'd ask the MN hive mind in case there's some trick we haven't tried.

Have you tried some small nail scissors ? That's what I've used on really small cartilage earrings before

I'd book a doctors / nurse appointment or go to minor injuries

How do they fasten actually? Scissors only really work on certain ones

Sarvanga38 · 19/06/2023 17:36

If they're that small, can you not just cut them?

They kind of click into each other, if you know what I mean. She said when she was putting them in, it was really hard to pull them apart before she even put them in and she had to shove a pen in to pop it open - she clearly didn't have the forethought to wonder how that would work in her earlobe!

I think I know the fastening you mean. I have some tiny ones which fasten like this and the only way to get them out is to hook your fingernail behind the bit that clicks into place, and flick it out and away. Does that make sense? Will only work if that part is not actually inside the lobe though

Try two pairs of small pliers to grip and pull each side of the hoop

Hi just wondering how ye got them out? I've a tiny hoop want to remove it but can't it's too small to get a grip on 😭

Go to a piercing shop. They have reverse pliers that can do the trick. It may hurt a bit if they are very tight to the ear.

I couldn't remember so just asked DD and she said that she got two cocktail sticks and put them in the hoop and pushed it apart that way! And then those earrings went in the bin!

Ok definitely will try that I'll be doing the same thing if I get it out straight into the bin
