My hair is so horrible and frizzy, it has been since I was a child. What could I use to really smooth it out?

It doesn't frizzy at all! I have actual frizzy hair and use straighteners, it does work to smooth the hair but its not great for your hair condition in the long run. I dont like using products as it makes the hair look "greasy" after a day and requires more washing (and therefore more damage).

Mybusyday · 18/06/2023 15:12

You have such beautiful hair - I wish mine was that frizzy! Bed Head shampoo and conditioner seem to help my frizziness

dontgobaconmyheart · 18/06/2023 16:21

I wouldn't say it's frizzy, at all - you just have a lot of flyaway and baby hairs at the root. I would just smooth them down with a bit of product after styling and that would probably fix it. I use a shine spray or a bit of hairspray on a brush or you can use an old toothbrush or similar if you want to be more detailed about it at the hairline. IMO your hair is in good condition and looks nice - I don't think it needs treating, just tweaking at the end of styling to keep the flyaways in place.

Laughs in frizzy

Candleabra · 18/06/2023 16:28

That’s the opposite of frizzy hair! It looks great.

nineteen71 · 18/06/2023 16:31

I had this, so frustrating, I looked awful, I started using shampoo and conditioner with glycerin, take your pick of the big bottles of TRESemmé and then wow combo dream coat spray before blow drying, it's taken a couple of months but hair is no longer frizzing up and looking smooth. Worth a try, good looking luck

SirChenjins · 18/06/2023 16:35

That’s not frizzy hair! I’d just blow dry and then finish with a cold setting, then put a small amount of hairspray on the roots or the tiniest bit of Bed Head After Party.

WhereAreWeNow · 18/06/2023 17:40

I don't understand. The hair in the picture isn't remotely frizzy.

wildfirewonder · 18/06/2023 17:43

I agree, your hair isn't frizzy. Your hair is straight and shiny.

samestyle · 18/06/2023 17:46

I'm prone to frizz on top of my head, even with straightening, make sure the roots are completely dry when blow drying and use a small amount of hair wax to smooth over.

Onelifeonly · 18/06/2023 17:55

Photo looks like a picture of your hair AFTER the frizz has been tamed! I think it looks fine. There will always be shorter hairs growing down as hair falls out eventually. But I don't think they detract from the overall look.

FlounderingFruitcake · 18/06/2023 17:59

That’s not frizzy. Wtf. But if you want it to be smoother just use the straighteners.

Mercurial123 · 18/06/2023 18:16

I laughed when I saw your photo. As someone with curly, dry and frizzy hair you have no issues.

Cabbagey · 18/06/2023 18:51

I have similar breakage to you, OP. If you find a product that works, let me know!

I've tried all sorts of stuff and nothing has really stopped it from happening, but I now use a bit of gel to stick the flyaway bits down to the rest of it. It's not perfect, but it helps it look a bit neater.

entangledconker · 18/06/2023 18:55

I'm a curly girl and my hair has been exactly like candy floss all week! I use John Frieda frizz ease but I'm pretty sure you done need it. You could try it though, or a bit of hair oil or serum???

HorridHair · 18/06/2023 19:10

Hmm, interesting responses! I've always thought of my hair as frizzy. Perhaps I should have said breakage or flyaway like some other posters have mentioned. Some of you seem to get what I mean though. I get the little haywire hairs sticking up all over the place, it drives me mad. Even when I have my hair up, it's never smooth on the top.

Honey that ain't frizzy.
Hair spray on your hands and smooth over the flyaways.

Peacepudding · 18/06/2023 21:19

If that's frizzy I'm not sure what mine is 🤣

ThePoshUns · 18/06/2023 21:29

As someone with hair that's got bigger by the minute on this humid day, your hair is not frizzy!

CherryPosset · 18/06/2023 23:49

if thats frizzy then fucking god help me. what do you want, an oil slick?

CherryPosset · 18/06/2023 23:51

if i am going to be brutally honest, your hair is more flat and lank than frizzy, i would want a product to frizz it up a bit or add some volume.
Naturally frizzy hair is quite porous and voluminous, which is kind of cool to be honest. I think we are all brainwashed after the flat iron phase. Healthy natural texture is so lovely.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/06/2023 00:15

You need a finishing or smoothing creme lots on the market, John Frieda Secret Agent is good.

Fancyateapottea · 19/06/2023 09:19

L’Oréal Elnett hairspray will easily fix this. Just spray and smooth it down

canigetitmyself · 19/06/2023 09:29

Kerastase L'encroyable blowdry
