Selling clothes - eBay or Vinted?

I used to have no trouble selling mine and the kids' stuff and it was really helpful to get money back to use towards new things. I'd tend not to bother with anything that I'd get less than £10 for, due to the time and effort involved.

But I'm finding lately nothing is selling on eBay (I always do 'buy now' rather than auction and am pricing and presenting them the way I always have done - I've done this for literally 20 years) and everything seems so cheap on Vinted that it doesn't even seem worth it?

What's going on? Are any of you still making money out of your old stuff?

Vinted is so much less of a faff than ebay. For packaging I reuse packaging I have received, most people seem to do that. Good for the environment and costs nothing. Or use a bag for life, I was a bit 🤔the first time I had a parcel packaged in one but then though genius! I have loads of bags for life hanging round and it's exactly the same material as the plastic envelopes you can buy, just parcel it carefully.

I only use Evri which I can send and collect from a local shop 2 minutes walk away. I don't have much faith in Royal Mail to deliver quickly or at all and they are more expensive. You won't make enough to buy new clothes but all those £2-£5 items add up and you can keep them on your Vinted account and replace your wardrobe 2nd hand that way.

I’ve made about £150 on vinted in the last couple of months but most of that was from bigger ticket items like Lovevery boxes, baby carriers etc.

People think £3 for some great quality Baby Boden is a lot 😵‍💫 but all the £1 sales mount up. Selling is easy for me as we have an InPost locker in the neighbourhood, living rurally it would be annoying!!

I have a theory with Vinted. That within a few hours of me favouring something it gets sold! It’s weird! Happens all the time!

I'd hazard a guess that the Vinted algorithm shows things that are "favourites" to more people. It's logical to see a favourite as a sign that it's a popular item and more likely to sell, therefore it makes sense to show it to more people.

But if you don't favourite it then you don't get notifications about any price drops, so I don't think there's any way round it?
