Anyone else find menstrual cup difficult?

Apologies as it's neither beautiful nor stylish, but posted for traffic.
I really want to like it, I have very heavy periods and use a lot of tampons/nappies/pads... but just can't get to grips with it. Inserting it is painful (it keeps unravelling) and then I can definitely feel it digging into me once it's in. It apparently sits lower than a tampon (which work really well for me) but then sitting/walking/moving is painful or very annoying at the least.
It is only my first cycle, does it improve with time?

I was using moon cup for a while and it felt a bit uncomfortable as the silicon is quite hard. I recently changed it for an organicup which is a more softer type of silicon and shorter stem and it's the best thing I ever did. Much happier now. Women's anatomies are different so what works for me might not work for you, just telling my personal experience.

I use a TOTM cup which is nice and soft. It does take some trial and error, so I always use period pants too. I found a smaller cup and using an s-bend technique works for me. Also putting it as far up as possible. Just wondering tho, those of you who cut off the stem, how do you get it out? I have to grab the stem to remove it, literally couldn’t get hold of it any other way!

I couldn't get on with cups and could always feel them.
I tried menstrual discs instead and so much better. Softcups are disposable which are what I use and then there's a reusable I haven't yet tried, think it's called Ziggy
I find the discs great. They sit higher, more like a tampon

I can't get the fucker out, no problem getting it in and comfortable (although do have to trim the nails) but getting it out is so hard, and twice I have been so relieved I've finally got it that I've managed to drop it so it looks like an abattoir.
No idea how I could use one in a public toilet. I bought it as wanted something better when away with friends but think I'm too scared to use it without husband being available (that truly is using my wedding vows!)

According to the lovely nurse at the gp who does my smear tests, I have a very high cervix. This means my mooncup naturally has to sit higher than the instructions say. I haven’t trimmed the stem at all and it’s still a bit hard to reach sometimes. I love using my cup though. So much comfier than tampons. Hopefully you just need to experiment a bit to find the best position.

Took me nearly 6 months to get the hang properly. I was about to give up!

I have to push it as high as I can and give a little squeeze so the slight suction seals it around the cervix. If you hold your breath and “bear down” you can push the cervix lower to make insertion/removal easier.

15 years on and it’s a life changer.

I think you’ve got to have some understanding of your own anatomy! I struggled for six months and then met a really fab nurse when I was having a smear who explained where my cervix is. After that I knew I had to insert kind of side ways to get the position right. Would never have figured it out without her! 😂

I have used one for years and love it, a few different brands and all worked fine. I think some people just don;t get on with them. If you really have tried all the tips, and you are usually lubricated enough, then it just may be its not right for you. You can get reusable pads.
