Does biab just always look a bit lumpy or should I find somewhere new?

Had 3 different people do my nails at my local salon. I like how long biab lasts but it just always looks a bit lumpy in places.

Is that just the way it is or should I try a specialist nail place next time?

I had it for 2 years straight - no bumps!

Ok I'm going to cancel my next appointment with them and find somewhere new.

The question is will a new salon remove the biab for me? I've seen a few saying they will only remove if they applied it?

I'm not keen on going back to the original place as they filed the previous application down and then when under the lamp my nails were quite painful feeling like they were burning.

My nail tech uses BIAB / Gel Bottle products and she never infills them - she'll always remove and re-do. I didn't actually consider that you could infill them but it makes sense that you'd have to be very skilled at it to avoid creating a bump or an extra thick nail.

My nail tech does charge extra if she's removing a set that someone else put on, but won't charge to remove her own.

I have done them myself before and I've discovered the fingers burning sensation comes from there being even just a small amount of the polish on your skin.

You can try and remove the existing ones yourself - get pure acetone (not nail polish remover) and wrap each nail in acetone soaked cotton wool then wrap in foil.

It's a bit of a laborious process though, so might be worth the extra £X for a nail tech to do professionally.

If you're on facebook, check a local group for recommendations. My nail tech is independent and runs out of a cabin in her garden and it's not massively different in price from a salon.

Asked for recommendations on my local Facebook group and had Thai down today.

So so much better.

Will not be going back to the other place...

Can I ask how much you paid please? I want to know whether I'm paying a reasonable amount

They look much better! Hope you’re happy with them (and please leave a review for the other place- they were not good)

123InTheSky · 23/06/2023 16:01

I pay £25 for an infill and £30 for a new set plus £2-10 for nail art

Farcis · 23/06/2023 16:04

So glad you found somewhere else. I have mine done once every three weeks and they’ve never looked like that.

My nail lady has just increased her prices by a fiver so £27 if I want nail art. Wanted to check I'm not being done!

Ilovetea42 · 24/06/2023 00:56

Mine never looks like that. Time for a new salon!

No they've just done a shitty job.
