Since having a couple of foot operations I’m very limited on what footwear I can wear. I have a wedding soon and a pair of flat pale pink sandals that are just about wearable comfort wise. I already have this dress, it’s more like a maxi dress on me , do you think it’s ok for a smart casual dress code wedding? I’ve also attached a photo of the fabric close up to show it’s more pink than off white.

I would avoid a dress so close to white

Wendysfriend · 13/06/2023 15:38

That's fine, it's no where near white, more pink.

WonderDays · 13/06/2023 15:58

It looks like a pink floral dress on, I was more thinking is it a bit too casual?

Lovely dress, doesn't look remotely bridal (and is clearly more pink than pale background) - no worries at all.

WonderDays · 13/06/2023 16:03

I also have this dress that again is longer in me and would go with the pink sandals.

Can we see the sandals?

WonderDays · 13/06/2023 16:13

These are the sandals. There’s a gap after the wedding breakfast so I’ll probably go back to my room and put on the other pair as they are more comfortable and my feet can only tolerate the pink ones for a certain amount of time. By then everyone’s had a few drinks so it won’t matter about my footwear.

I'd go for the second dress.

Epicstorm · 13/06/2023 16:28

I’d go for the second dress too. I’m going to a wedding soon and the mothers of the bride and groom are planning on changing into flip flops later on although they’ll probably be blingy ones. Same happened at the last wedding I went to. Lots of people changed footwear particularly for the evening so I think this is a thing now.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 13/06/2023 16:41

Dress One is probably fine in the flesh, but may photograph as white - which bothers some brides. If you wear it, wear a different colour jacket on top.

WonderDays · 13/06/2023 16:46

I didn’t think of the photograph as white thing.

Thats good to hear, I’m trying not to worry too much about the whole footwear thing as this time last year I couldn’t wear any shoes so at least I wear a couple of pairs now.

Those pink sandals are lovely and the other ones are fine for after the formal bits. Personally, I'd go for the second dress that's slightly more formal and less close to white for the photos.

Campervangirl · 13/06/2023 17:06

I love it, the pinky one.
You're right to wear flats and you can change into your comfies, no-one is going to take any notice.
DD and I always take a clutch bag big enough to fit a pair of flip flops in when we go to an event, can't enjoy ourselves if our feet hurt.
At dds wedding, I walked her down the aisle, did a speech (her df not around) then changed into flip flops, you can actually see I'm wearing flip flops in the video of the mum and daughter dance.

WonderDays · 13/06/2023 17:14

Thank you all for your help and also for no comments such as you can’t wear flats to a wedding etc, I feel reassured.
