Ghd or not?

Need straighteners, I’ve never bought expensive ones so maybe I’m missing a trick
Are Ghd’s worth the money? Or can you recommend an alternative.
Hair is quite thin and fine, easily damaged.

I had mine for 7 years and still going strong. Personally I think it was worth the investment but I have very thick and frizzy hair and less “powerful” ones don’t do much for me.

Colinorpercy · 13/06/2023 22:46

I’d def recommend Cloud Nines over GHDs!

Idlechitchat · 13/06/2023 22:46

My hair sounds similar to yours. I’ve recently bought GHDs after previously using cheaper brands that have always worked ok. I find the GHDs much kinder on my hair, they don’t pull and my hair looks in much better condition.

Mine must be at least 10 yrs old now, and are still great
make sure you use heat protection spray

TakeMyStrongHand · 13/06/2023 22:52

I've been told that cloud 9s are far superior.

I use Remington wet to straight, on dry hair. They were 35 quid about 5 years ago and replaced my previous wet to straight which lasted longer. They are still going strong and go very hot but I do have thin hair.

Ghd platinums

loveacuddle1 · 13/06/2023 23:32

My GHDs are still going strong after 11 years!

IHateLegDay · 13/06/2023 23:32

I've had my GHD's for over 15 years and they still work perfectly.

Colinorpercy · 13/06/2023 23:36

If you have really old GHDs that are still going strong it’s because the older ones were def better. The person who started Cloud Nine is who made the old GHDs.

FlamingoFlock · 13/06/2023 23:42

I have 2 pairs of GHDs that are about 15 years old (thin pair and wide pair) and they both still work fine, was worth the investment.

stillstanding51 · 14/06/2023 06:58

Thanks
better start researching the best place to purchase

I resisted for a long time until recently purchased and they are certainly worth the hype. It seems to take a lot less straightening to get the same result which must be better for your hair.

Cluckycluck · 14/06/2023 07:28

Bio-Ionic or Cloud Nine!

BanditsOnTheHorizon · 14/06/2023 07:42

My dd has gone through several sets of cheaper straighteners. I've had my GHD's for about 10 years, my dd uses them now and they are still going strong, plus are much better than cheaper versions.

SecretVictoria · 14/06/2023 07:51

I had the old GHDs and they were amazing. Have bought both Cloud 9 and new GHD since and I think both are crap. No idea what changed, if it was temperature or materials that the plates were made of but they were really inferior. I have a pixie now so no need for straightening!

RoysSisterShireeSauce · 14/06/2023 11:41

L’Oréal steampod

MidnightMeltdown · 14/06/2023 11:46

GHDs are worth it imo. I've been using them for over 20 years and am only on my second pair. The first pair didn't break, I just fancied upgrading to the wider plate style.

Yes they might be a bit pricier, but you'll likely be using them for over a decade.

TheMurderousGoose · 14/06/2023 11:48

MY OG GHDs lasted for 20 years. So well made. But like lots of brands their quality has dipped in recent years and now Cloud Nine is where it's at for straighteners.
