Hair straightener or brush?

I've got long, fairly thick, wavy hair. Despite spending a lot on curly hair products and religiously following the CHM it's still usually a frizzy mess and it's getting me down.

We went out last night and I had my hair done, they sttaighetend it and I loved it. I'm really tempted but I don't want to kill mu hair or be in a situation where I need to do it every day. Im also not very dextrous.

Would a heated brush be a suitable idea? I don't want it poker straight, just the ability to look somewhat groomed.

Yes, a heated brush is a great idea. I used to use straighteners on my hair every day but now I use the heated brush once after washing and drying my hair and it stays straight for days, My hair is very thick and just about long enough to sit on.

You might try the GHD Glide, it’s a bit pricey at £169, but I got mine for £35 on eBay. It’s great for straightening, smoothing and shaping without flattening your hair or giving a poker straight look.

How dextrous do u have to be? Looking at the glide thanks!

The new dyson airstraight is amazing but pricey!

Would some sort of Brazilian blow dry / keratin treatment (that'll smooth and help with frizz) that'll mean less maintenance? Again probably not a super purse friendly option.

What brand of heated brush does anyone recommend?

jeaux90 · 12/06/2023 06:39

I use the dyson airwrap mostly and I have think very curly hair. I might use the straightener afterwards too but the blow dry will last several days.

When I travel to to the US though I rough dry then use a revlon hot brush which is also pretty goo but I'd say my hair is on much better condition when I use the dyson.

jeaux90 · 12/06/2023 06:40

Oh and no dexterity needed with the dyson although it does take a little working out.

It sounds like I have similar hair to you and I have a revamp hot brush that's very easy to use because the spiky bits retract . I find it really sorts mine out !
