What to wear for mum's funeral?

My darling mum died. I need a black summer dress plus ideas for bag and shoes for the funeral. My budget is £150 for all (I may already have suitable shoes/sandals).

It is important to me that I will reuse the dress so I'm looking for something quite casual (I don't wear formal dress for work)

PS. Am so sorry for your loss.

I just wanted to say that my mum died last year and I bought a lovely blouse to wear to her funeral with the intention of wearing it again. But every time I look at it, it brings the day back to me and I can't.

I know we're not all the same but it might be better to wear something you've already got rather than spend money on something you might only wear once.

I'm sorry for your loss x

I would pick a ditsy print dress on a darkish background.

Flowers for you and your lovely mum. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Obviously this is all very personal and people feel differently - but like pp I really don’t like rewearing funeral clothes, they always take me back to the occasion and - even if they really suit me - I end up feeling sad.

i didn’t expect to feel like that which is why I’m mentioning it but obviously your own opinion and approach is absolutely valid and right too. But if it’s a sustainability issue - I’d personally look at buying second hand in a charity shop and keeping the items just for funerals.
Take care Flowers

I also bought a couple of things for a funeral and then ended up giving them to charity, couldn't rewear them. If you think that might be the case, then looking on Vinted for cotton or linen summer dresses in black in your size would work, as long as you do so fairly quickly as they might take a few days to arrive.

I couldnt rewear the one for my mums funeral either

@Padstow58 gives good advice. I also had to give away the clothes I wore for DM funeral. Buy something you feel comfortable with and that has pockets (tissues). But don’t spend too much. Save some money and out to one side for treating yourself later on. Sorry for your loss 💐

So sorry for your loss. I wore a blouse and skirt I knew my Dad would have liked for his funeral. I did wear the skirt again but not the blouse but also didn't get rid of it for years. It's 33 years ago this week since he died but still so vivid. Flowers

Does it have to be black? I wore pwhite trousers for my dad

I'm so sorry about your mum.
You've not said what size you are but river island has this left in sizes 10 and under. I wore it recently for a funeral, it's 100% cotton and cool but still really smart, has a collar and little sleeves
