Lovely body oils that repel mosquitoes 🦟

Lots of people recommend the Avon skin oil (don't know name) that has the unintended benefit for mozzi protection. I wasn't v keen on it though.

We found gorgeous smelling product in a French supermarket that had the same effect- Corrine de Farme Aprés Solei oil - that worked in the same way. But I can't seem to find it over here.

Does anyone else have alternatives/similar product suggestions?

Geranium and lavender both repel insects.
Can't beat Deet though.

Unless you are me or one of my adult dc. We have watched as mosquitos have merrily landed on our arms literally dripping with Deet. It's quite remarkable. We must radiate something Uber powerful. I think they should do a science experiment with us.

Are you me? This was me last summer. And I've tried all sorts of foul smelling concoctions. Not lavender funny enough....might give it a go.

Skin so Soft from Avon is really good.

Ok but not every woman in hot bits of the world is covered in deet are they? And yet they go out of an evening without swatting at things wildly or waking up the next morning looking like they have bubonic plague - what are women of style doing in Paris, Rio, Nairobi and Bali?

Alfresco make scented body lotions (no oils though) which use essential oils to repel the mozzies. Haven't used them myself as I am sensitive to some of the ingredients, but could be worth having a look.

I never get bitten - I must taste awful. But anything that bites will fly past 15,000 people to get at my best friend.

So why is it me who always packs the repellent and the hydrocortisone?

Lavender essential oil is the way to go. And also if you have been bitten, the oil takes the itch out. And AFAIK it's the only essential oil that you can use directly on your skin.

I'm in a hot country, and no we don't use deet products all the time. I do, if I'm going to be out in a mozzie ridden environment, but def not day to day.

We used to get Avon skin so soft, the blue one, but they discontinued it here. Just typical, as it was bloody great stuff.

If you are at home, burn citronella candles. Or you can even drop some citronella essential oil into a tub of Vaseline and use that as a detterant. It's good for ankles and elbows as those spots can always use extra moisture. And that is a spot mozzies seem to enjoy too.

And make sure you aren't attracting them by having standing water somewhere outside where they might be breeding. It's quite amazing how they can breed in a puddle / container that hasn't dried up well.

It's the night time buzzing around the room ones that bother me the most. Trick for this one is to sleep with a fan on.

Mosquitoes will beat their way through anything to sink their fangs into me. Then the bites swell up like golf balls. Smacking them over the head with a rolled up magazine into the wee small hours is the only thing that works for me🤣 Hate the buzzy wee bastards.
