Any suggestions, I'm looking to buy a couple of things for work size 18, big boobs but short. Looking really for dresses but not tight smart office ones if that makes sense thank you

Thanks I was a bit worried @Pringleface , will go for it then, toes are all ready!

Today wearing loose olive linen trousers and a light cotton cami top in the same colour.

And over that a knee length thin cap sleeve wrap cotton dress which I wouldn't wear as an actual dress (too flimsy, low and short) but looks lovely over the base and is not overheating.

Gold sandals and earrings.

I look and feel unexpectedly ... fab! My meno tummy (commented on last week by both mum and partner 🧐) and ever-expanding arse nicely skimmed and flattered.

Op I have to go into the office tomorrow too when I usually WFH. its a journey of a car ride and 2 trains both ways, about. 2 hrs each way so not looking forward to it in this heat.
im also an 18 with huge boobs which means linen on top is pretty impossible!
I bought a pair of the M&S wide jersey trousers, a longish white v neck vest top from Tesco which I will wear with an existing open black linen shirt. Going for monochrome.
Im also menopausal sweaty and dreading going.

I don't find linen at all cooling. It feels too thick and heavy to me.

Thankfully now we have an air conditioned office, but in our old office as soon as it got hot we got rid of any office wear rules, so the guys all wore shorts and smart t-shirts and the women just wore whatever they felt cool in. I used to wear a lot of maxi dresses.

The only things off limits were strappy/vest tops and flip flops and shorts had to not be indecent.

Is there any chance of suggesting a relaxed dress code??

Even in an air conditioned office on hot days we're more relaxed as many people have to use public transport to get to work, which isn't air conditioned.

I'm a simular size, prefer dresses (often tiered ones or long shirt dresses but not great big tents so nothing is clinging round the waist but also not making me look even wider!) Ideally in plain neutrals so can change accessories but have lots of patterned too. I can recommend the M&S anti chafing shorts under and also their cool max slips, I have them in black, white and nude to avoid any dresses being see through (so many unlined dresses now) but also because the material is genuinely cooling next to the skin.

I have a number of loose fitting sports tops (wicking material) that I wear with wide leg linen trousers.

I choose the ones that look least like sports tops and they are really good in this weather.

I like cotton shirt dresses for looking smart and keeping cool at work. I got a nice one in H&M recently.

What footwear are you wearing, are these a huge no no? I have to go into the office 3 times a year and going tomorrow. I think with the temperatures they may be acceptable?

Those look good, where are they from?

I would size down if you're between, I'm a 12-14 and bought a 14 and they're big.

GobbolinoCat · 14/06/2023 07:07

@girljulian thank you

Sundaychiller · 14/06/2023 08:27

@pinkfondu only Amazon, really comfortable I have white too

Prettypaisleyslippers · 14/06/2023 08:34

Smart flat shoes, (Gabor are super comfy), smart dress. I generally do shift style rather than floaty.

Threenow · 18/07/2023 05:43

I normally wear a skirt and linen tops to work in summer, but linen dresses are good too. The looser the better for me, I never understand why people wear tight clothes in the heat.

@girljulian - love your user name! I would use it myself if it wasn't already taken.

Ha, thank you! It is quite simply because I am a girl called Julian and I have spent a lot of my life answering the phone to people who are expecting a boy Julian and then having to explain myself.

I suspected as much - and I also am a girl called Julian!!! Most people don't seem too shocked by it, although I have had correspondence addressed to "Dear Sir" It's nice to meet you Smile
