What has happened to face! Pic included

I'm a 30 yo woman who has gained 4 stone in a very short period of time (anti depressants). Psychiatrist warned me that the medication I was going was particularly bad for weight gain. The weight gain has made my depression infinitely worse.

I have just noticed this weird indent when it comes to face shape. Have always had an oval face with high cheekbones.

What is going on?? I recently started krill oil and collagen as I noticed fat on face isn't as taut as I would like.

This can't just be due to weight gain. I've literally just only noticed. Know idea how long I've had this.

I gained over 10 stone on mirtazepine, although it probably also saved my life.

I did have weight loss surgery a few years ago and the surgeon said he wouldn't operate until I had come off the mirtazepine, because of its weight gain effects.

Be really careful if/when you do come off it - my head was ok but I had diarrhoea for about 6 months after - stock up on immodium!

I knew you where going to say Mirtazapine. I gained 3 stone while I was on them (also stopped smoking at the same time which didn't help) my face has also gone a weird shape, bigger on one side. Sort of like a small double chin but only on one side.
Those tablets are brilliant for anxiety and depression but my gp did explain that they are sometimes used to treat eating disorders, they make you crave carbs.
At the time I didn't care and the tablets worked but now I'm off them I really need to focus on weight loss and hopefully my face goes back to normal.

Your face looks warm and kind at all weights. The indent is the natural change between your skull and your jawbone - there's less flesh or fat at the point where they interact: that's completely normal.

Rapid weight changes do show very quickly on the face, both up and down, as we store fat in our cheeks, it's just that we don't notice it if we see ourselves every day in the mirror - or if we avoid them because we're not feeling good about ourselves.
