Bobbi brown cream eyeshadow - worth it or alternatives?

stealtheatingtunnocks · 07/06/2023 12:53

I was given a sample of this cream eyeshadow stick and loved it. My eyes are getting a bit saggy and it was very forgiving but also didn’t slip down my face

I went to buy some but it is 30 quid per colour.

is it worth it (I’m not sure I am) or can you recommend an alternative?
thanks

I bought a whole load of those before realising that they’re actually really difficult to use with any kind of precision because they’re so blunt. They also give very heavy coverage- there’s no sheer wash of colour option. Mine are slowly drying out in the reserve box.

That’s interesting. I do rent to splodge the stuff on rather than do precision

i think it was the creaminess I liked - wasn’t so drying as eyeshadow

I like the Trinny Eye 2eye trinnylondon.com/uk/products/eye-contact
Or Kiko do shadow sticks for a cheaper alternative.

Smartnugget · 07/06/2023 18:15

I like the Charlotte tilbury pots. I do like the Bobbi brown ones but I tend to use it as a bottom eye liner.

Downsizeddumpling · 07/06/2023 18:50

I like the Kiko Milano sticks

I've just got a Trinny one and really like it

You can use a makeup brush for precision.

WellTidy · 07/06/2023 18:56

I have two, and I really like them. I bought them in the US though, where they’re cheaper, I don’t think I’d pay £30 for them. Kiko seems to have an equivalent, I don’t know how good they are. Much cheaper than the BB though.

Dinkler · 07/06/2023 19:15

The beauty pie cream eyeshadows are good and I think they are made in the same factory?

Jellywobblescobbles · 07/06/2023 20:04

There’s some of the BB ones on ebay. I have a smaller size of the golden bronze and like it. I wouldn’t pay £30 from BB.

SecretVictoria · 07/06/2023 20:09

I resisted for ages, after being a massive fan of their cream shadows in the pot, which they discontinued….which I’m still angry at! I finally caved as I have wrinkled eyelids and there is no comparison. I think they’re awful, especially compared to their predecessors. Like pp said, as a liner they’re ok.

The Julep or Mally Beauty are better (and cheaper). I also like the Trinny ones and Charlotte Tilbury and Illamasqua.

declutteringmymind · 07/06/2023 20:11

Bobbi brown have a lot of these in beauty boxes etc and resell on eBay for a lot cheaper. Watch out they are usually minis but still cheaper.

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/06/2023 20:22

I use the BB shadow sticks. I've tried alternatives, some of which are OK but most aren't so I always go back to them.

As I get older my eyes are getting wrinkly and they are the only way I can use a glittery shadow to brighten my eyes up without shedding glitter all over me and looking like a disco tortoise

DeliciouslyDecadent · 07/06/2023 20:31

I've used them and keep rebuying the one in Stone.

You can certainly blend them and apply a thin layer.

Their prices have shot up lately. They used to be £22 and with a 20% discount (which they do usually at bank holiday weekends and other 'events') it was a reasonable price as mine last at least 6 months.

they’re actually really difficult to use with any kind of precision because they’re so blunt.

They aren't blunt. The end is rounded like a lippie.

One way to try them out @stealtheatingtunnocks is if you buy any other BB products they often have offers and freebies where you can sometimes get a small one free (it's often in Golden Bronze.)

DeliciouslyDecadent · 07/06/2023 20:34

They aren't £30. They are £27 and they have a duo (if it's the colours you like ) for £35.

Lndnmummy · 07/06/2023 23:07

I think MAC paintpot and Trinny eyeshadows are way superior.

Zengarden001 · 08/06/2023 07:51

H&M do a very similar "eyeshadow pen" for £6.99 - I've tried lots of them and they seem like good dupes for BB except the matte BB ones as they all seem to have some shimmer. Total bargain though.

pharmachameleon · 08/06/2023 08:17

I really love them but I'm no pro at applying make up so I may be doing it all wrong! I have them in loads of colours and buy whenever there is a discount on the website, which happens fairly often. I also have an NHS Blue Light card which gives me a decent discount.
I love them as they do not budge! I could apply at 7am and would still need an oil cleanser to remove all of it at midnight. I've tried so many other brands and don't find the colours as nice or there is fallout to my cheeks.

@stealtheatingtunnocks You should sign up as a loyalty customer. You get VIP offers. I've just had an email offering 30% off the whole site.

They’re lovely colours and they wear really well. I use them as a single colour, apply and blend with brush or finger.
