Swimdresses

Hello.

I've been thinking about buying a swimdress for my upcoming holiday as Im very conscious of the top part of my legs and my bum.

Have any S & B readers have tried a swimdress? Does the skirt part just float up and get in the way when you're in the pool? Do they make an already pear shaped body look even wider? Would you recommend?

Thanks for any advice.

Mine is also from Bon Marche. Currently on my second one from there. Also have a swimsuit and tankini top combo that I use for the beach as easier to go to the loo when needed!

Wouldn't recommend either for actual swimming or aqua class though. Prefer a low leg swimsuit for that. Currently have Asda George and Sainsburys Tu ones in that style.

Swim skirt and tankini top. Not swimsuit!

Well said. Sad that a woman's confidence is judged based on how much flesh she is willing to reveal.

Exactly. Especially as revealing flesh in any other setting is seen as “wrong”. Short skirts, booty shorts, tight tops? All sneered at. Wanting to not wear the equivalent of your underwear to the pool? Also sneered at.

That's a very good point.

As for not being good for swimming, well no, they wouldn't be much use in competitive swimming but I won't swim any better if I were wearing a tiny bikini rather than a swim dress.

Same here! I started wearing swim dresses mainly because I was super self-conscious about how I looked like. Some do float up in the water yeah but I’ve noticed that the ones with a bit more structure stay in place way better. Mine are from miraclesuit ande they don't cling or ride up awkwardly either. It's like more fitted top and a slight A line shape and I feel like it actually balances out my shape instead of making me look wider.

I've just bought some burkinis (looks like a swim dress but more high neck for coverage), can't wait to try them on holiday 🏖
