Why are my Blundstones so uncomfortable 😫?

They are the perfect boot for me - outside for a good part of the day, in the countryside. I love the look of them. The right one is really comfy but the left one makes the joint of my big toe super painful- like a bunion. Perhaps I'm developing a bunions, but none of my other trainers, including the ones with no support whatsoever, hurt like this. I'm gutted as I bought them because of the roomy toe box. I've tried the insoles and that doesn't help. I'm gutted.

I don't find them particularly comfortable. They're not actively uncomfortable but they're not bouncy on the sole which I was hoping for. And they're pretty heavy. Interestingly, I've developed a bunion in my left toe over the time of owning them. I'm sure that can't be the cause though.

but they’re clearly not!

Well, quite.

By that I mean on paper they are! I need a functional boot with no laces that can get wet and withstand mud and can be walked miles in.

They are definitely putting pressure on that area. I have five different pairs of trainers and two different pairs of wellies, as well as all my 'formal' shoes and none of them do it.

I've had mine for 6 years and they have moulded to me. They are not "comfortable ", but not uncomfortable iyswim.

Try some of the Dr martens range if you like the look of any of them? From memory, the leather on the uppers sodtly moulded to every single countour of my bony feet. Blundies won't do that as the leather isn't the same softness, ime.

Stertch them with a shoe stretcher and spray- some cobblers will do this for you or you can buy one.

practicepracticepractice · 04/06/2023 01:34

How long have you had them?

I've a couple of pairs now and they take a while to mould to your feet.

I needed that a few years ago. I read here about duBarry.

They work.

I have a pair and they have always been comfortable and didn’t need breaking in.

Not long. Only worn about 6 times as they get too uncomfortable. Perhaps I'll persevere

I definitely want a short boot - have a few pairs of long.

I don't think they are too tight. They are the wider version and I can wiggle my toes easily.

My Timberland Cortina valley Chelsea style boots tick all your boxes op and are unbelievably light.

ClaraBourne · 04/06/2023 13:43

What about changing the insoles, you can get ones with a memory foam top which makes my trainers feel like I am walking in slippers.

faustina · 04/06/2023 13:56

That is very odd - but the right boot must be too tight in one particular place if none of your other shoes or boots make your toe joint hurt. It does sound like stretching might help? I have the wide Blundstones and find them really comfortable

If you decide to give up, maybe you could try Solovair? They have dealer boots which are pull-on and wider than DMs - they do a beautiful grainy leather version. You can sometimes find them on TKMaxx for a (relative) snip. Not quite as rugged as Blundstone though
