Nail varnish virgin, what do I buy??

Never really used nail varnish, I have toe nails for the first time in my life. I would like a azure blue, metallic, maybe two tone. I don’t want to buy a cheap one, or lots of mistakes. What are good brands to buy? Any recommendations?

I don’t get the love for Essie, it chips too easily on me.

I prefer Barry M for bright or metallic colours.

I find the light in the Essie display cabinets makes them look different to how they actually are, have made a few mistakes because of that. I always take Essie polishes over to the shop window to check them in daylight now. I don't think they last all that well either, Rimmel and Barry M are my favourites. But I do love Ballet Slippers and Mademoiselle by Essie.

Mavala. Great range of colours and they're dinky so a good way to experiment and not be stuck with bigger bottles of anything that doesn't work for you.

I have to say that the 'regular' Essie doesn't last for me at all. The only one that does is the gel couture one. With the special gel couture top coat

I only do gels how (I do my own nails as I have the lamp, etc) but back when I used regular polish nothing beat the durability and shine of Barry M. Essie is good but Barry M pips it for me. Rimmel and Maybelline are crap, start chipping two days later.

I was very surprised with how good next nail varnish is. Nice colours and lasts. I use a Sally Hanson top and base coat
