Just that really ... part of pressie for niece, she's asked for one....

I'm thinking light moisturiser, gently (very gently) scented, a bit better quality than she would buy for herself...

Origins?

SleazyLizzard · 29/05/2023 20:56

I’d take her on a shopping trip to a Beaty counter in a shop such as boots or John Lewis and let her choose , with help from a sales women.

Mydogisamentalist · 29/05/2023 21:45

I really like one from Cult Beauty. It’s called cloud something from a brand named Summer Fridays. I never would have picked it out myself but it came in the advent calendar the year before last and I’ve been repurchasing it ever since!

It’s a gel consistency so perfect for summer, absorbs really quickly and gives a lovely glow. I love the stuff.

Paula’s Choice are good. Also I would always go for unscented.

Great suggestions... thank you!!

Bodyshop? Natural ingredients, pleasant smelling, gentle.

QueenOfWeeds · 29/05/2023 22:16

I like the Glossier priming moisturiser.

Stellawella · 30/05/2023 06:35

I’d give her a voucher for somewhere like Harrods Beauty shop and she can then decide herself. For me it’s quite a personal thing to buy. It will all depend on her skin type.

As a gift something like Elemis or Liz Earle would be nice. Difficult to say though without knowing skin type. Also brands like La Roche Posay and Paula's Choice etc are very highly recommended (I use LRP) but very much geared towards certain "problems" so someone might be a bit "are you saying I've got X"

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturiser.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturiser.

Too old fashioned.

Basically anything from space NK

Niftythrifter · 30/05/2023 13:54

@Thepleasureofyourcompany since when did skin care become “old fashioned”?The beauty of DDM is that it is affordable enough to repurchase and can be bought in lots of places and does the job.

Don't ask me. I use it but I'm 58.

My dds in their 20s like more current brands.

luckylavender · 30/05/2023 15:22

Liz Earle

Treasureboxkey · 30/05/2023 15:27

Temple spa do a really nice moisturiser called Moisture matte that feels like smash box primer.
Maybe something like that would be appealing to her.

SpecialBreak · 30/05/2023 15:36

Depending on budget Drunk Elephant

bryceQ · 30/05/2023 15:41

Brands I'd go for this age group

Glow recipe
Summer Friday
Fenty
Glossier
Beauty of Joesson
Rio de Janerio

rbe78 · 30/05/2023 15:49

Anything from Glossier has always gone down well with the teenage/young adult girls in my life

Sparkletastic · 30/05/2023 16:13

Skincare from the following has been well received by my DDs:

Glossier
My Clarins
Inkey List
The Ordinary
Lush
Byoma
Glow Recipe
Nip n Fab

NowZeusHasLainWithLeda · 30/05/2023 16:26

I'd agree with the above lists. My daughter (19) did briefly use DD but only because she had teenage breakouts. Clinique starting off as a brand for "problem" skin (hence the whole white coat thing they went for back in the 70s and 80s) She then moved on to Toleriane which she still uses but that's not "gifty" either tbh.

loveyouradvice · 31/05/2023 23:29

Such great recommendations - thank you!!!

She hasn't got back to me on skin type yet but planning to buy as soon as she does....
