The gentlest of gentle facewash recommendations please

My dd is 13 and suffers from eczema and generally dry sensitive skin that can flare up in anger at the drop of a hat.

Sometimes her skin will be fine with a product, and then suddenly she'll start to react to it. Over the past few years we have been ok for a while with simple, la roche possay, cerave facewash but they are now no longer kind to her skin.

So lovely people of S&B, what other products could you recommend? Anything with sulfates, glycerin, salycilic acid or alcohol is a no go.

Price is not really an issue.

Body shop vitamin E facewash is lovely and creamy, leaves skin really soft.

Moo Goo milk wash is one of the gentlest I've heard of and I use it myself. It's not prohibitively expensive at £12.

It also lasts ages as you don't need much.
You can buy it at Holland and Barratt and independent pharmacies

You'd probably be better with a bar or a cleanser if she reacts to even La Roche Posay or CeraVe. Which LRP was it? Toleriane Dermallergo is about the gentlest range they do, not sure if the Cicaplast range has a wash. Or the Roseliac. People rave about Avene too, but I've never used it.

Simple is dreadful stuff and should (imo) be made to change its name as it's anything but and always has been!

Dermalogica ultra calming cleanser.
Does she have a dermatologist? If yes what do they suggest.

I also recommend Moogoo products. I have skin similar to your daughter OP and when the skin on my face had a major flare up moogoo cleanser and their MSM moisturiser worked great to calm and heal it.

Avene tollorence cleansing milk it's so gentle.

Also it's worth trying a probiotic and prebiotic to help tackle the eczema head on [[https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/holland-barrett-mega-potency-acidophilus-capsules-60001540 these with some inulin powder in my drinks took my stubborn eczema down in five or six weeks.

Another more for Toleriane.

I use Vanicream gentle cleanser (with a flannel) and would recommend it.

stardust777 · 28/05/2023 21:18

Ah, just reread and seen that you're looking for something without glycerin - the Vanicream cleanser has glycerin

MyYoniSaysNoni · 28/05/2023 23:39

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll have a search through all their ingredients and hopefully find a few that dds skin can tolerate for a while

Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser is the only thing that works for me, 30 now and have eczema my entire life.

biedrona · 29/05/2023 11:06

Simple cleanser has some ingredients that may irritate sensitve skin.

It's pricey but have a look on Cult Beauty at "clearly clean" by Farmacy. It's a hypo allergenic/for sensitive skin version of their "green clean" oil balm. I bought it by mistake a few weeks ago. I don't like it as much because I love the scent of the normal one but I really noticed that it makes my skin clean but almost feels like I haven't done anything. It's v v neutral.
