What do you wear on a typical day?

I used to dress up and wear nice outfits pre kids but now I wake up put on gym wear take kids to school go to the gym then just end up staying in my gym wear all day as the fanciest place I go is Tesco. I want to get new outfits but then I think is there any point? Do you dress nicely day to day? Don't get me wrong if I'm going out I'll wear something a little more dressy but it's so rare when I come to it I feel so out of place wearing anything other than gym wear or pj's.

I'm pretty scruffy!
I WFH mostly, so wear comfy loungewear at home. I have to go out to visit people several times a week so I change for that - dress/tights/boots/smart trousers etc- and then straight back into lounge wear. Gym gear just for when I train (at home). Jeans / shorts/ walking trousers on days off as usually out and about in woods/ beach/ climbing etc with my daughter.

I have very little cause to dress up other than work!

I don't wear makeup or do my nails but I am obviously clean. 'Beauty' routine is wash face with dove and bung on a decent face sunscreen.

At the moment wide trousers - cropped or not, with a t shirt & a muslin shirt over.
Or a maxi/midi with a denim shirt.
Examples of recent outfits.

Relatively smart for work - usually a dress or trousers/blouse.

I never ever wear leggings or joggers out of the house, unless running trousers for actual running.

Today I’m wearing rolled up jeans, trainers and a black broderie shirt.

Yesterday I wore a denim midi, black vest and open black linen shirt.

I have to say op that I’m glad I’m not in the supermarket queue next to you.

I’m no clean freak but sorry that’s gross. Either that or you’re not working hard enough at the gym.

are there no showers at your gym?

Sweat itself doesn't smell, as you probably know. Also, not everybody is soaked through after attending the gym, even if they did work "hard enough".

BitOutOfPractice · 29/05/2023 09:50

Sweat does smell once you’ve swanned around in it for half a day.

Of course it does!

Jeans and a top. Leggings and a long top. Slightly fancier top if I'm going out out.

And Lol at the shower outrage.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 29/05/2023 12:12

Mostly WFH so joggers/tee/hoody - linen crops or shorts in summer .

If I have to go into the office or going out (eg pub meal)

Jeans and top/shirt
Dress - short with opaques in winter, midi t shirt dress summer
Long shirt/top/shirt dress with leggings

@Jessicarosex94x if you want an idea of what random MNers wear on a daily basis there is a whole thread devoted to this topic you may find interesting .

Niw the weather is nice I’m wearing long sunmmer dresses for work. For casual I wean wide leg cropped denim culottes a lot. For going out-out, I’m wearing a selection of jump suits that I love.

🙄

But OP isn't "swanning around" for half a day after her workout, is she?

She's popping in to the supermarket to grab some stuff on her way home, so sounds like it is directly after leaving the gym?

DinosApple · 31/05/2023 06:05

I wear wide leg high waisted jeans (thank you M&S) or trousers, and either a close fitted long sleeve top, t-shirt or shirt tucked in.
Plus trainers, boots or flip flops. Sometimes I wear a dress if it's hot. Occasionally I wear skinny trousers, if wearing a jumper.

I work as a teaching assistant so my clothes need to be practical, but I'm quite happy to wear the same in my downtime.

mondaytosunday · 31/05/2023 06:24

I wfh and other than walking the dogs/ run errands don't go out much. My uniform is comfortable black jersey trousers ( not leggings, they are loose), black sleeveless top then long cardi in cooler months, shirt in warmer. I add a colourful scarf in cooler months.
When I worked outside of the home (and was younger) I cared far more and wore a variety.
I did take to heart what Jackie Collins once advised: pick your uniform and wear variations of that. For her a black base layer then a more colourful blazer style jacket, often in leopard print.

Ok I’ll be the one to ask, don’t you shower after the gym?

I was just wondering the same...,.

BitOutOfPractice · 31/05/2023 07:23

“then just end up staying in my gym wear all day as the fanciest place I go is Tesco.”

from the op.

bluemoonswoon · 31/05/2023 07:25

I work in the arts among annoyingly trendy young people so I try to dress in nice work wear with a bit of 'edge' - whatever that means!
At the moment I'm in a lot of dresses, mostly muted colours, or my denim dress or wide leg trousers with a smart t-shirt and colourful jewellery.
