Floaty summer dress for someone with no boobs and no curves

I always wear trousers and shorts in the summer but I do like the look of those floaty dresses. I don’t think I have a feminine enough shape to wear them though.
they all seem to be geared towards those with some sort of cleavage. I am 5.5
if you are built like me and wear long summer dresses what style do you wear?🙂
thanks

I disagree. I think flouncier, floatier styles look great on less curvy women. I say this as a curvy woman? I like feminine, floaty styles but I tend to avoid them because they can be a bit too much if you're busty. If you look at pictures of models in the clothes you like, you'll see they look great on slim, athletic body types.

Oh you're asking for a fight here! Lol. I've got huge boobs and dresses of almost all shapes are my enemy. If I could wear a pretty little bra or go without then a whole world would open up to me.

Wear the prettiest thing you can find, you will look lovely!

BigButtons · 24/05/2023 12:33

@WhereAreWeNow thanks. I was worried I’d just look ridiculous. Maybe because I am so used to wear trousers though. I can’t wear cross over dresses though- deffo need some sort of bust for those!

Floaty summer dress for someone with no boobs and no curves

@MorrisZapp 😂
I have no waist to go with my no boobs. I don’t mind the no boob factor any more. I can go Bra- less which is very liberating . I wouldn’t mind a tiny bit more, but I guess we are never happy with what we have!

You've got the perfect shape for a floaty summer dress, you have so many options.

(Another busty woman here who can't wear anything without a decent amount of structure.)

I feel the same as you and did wonder if it was all in my head. But the 'real women have curves' and jokes from people about having 'no boobs' over the years probably haven't helped.

I got a floaty play suit the other day which somehow feels more 'me' than a dress as it's floaty but fitted.. if that makes any sense!

minipie · 24/05/2023 12:51

There are lots and lot of dresses around at the moment with a smocked top half and floaty skirt - some strapless, some with straps. These would look good I think and would exaggerate any boobs you do have (they look terrible IMO on larger boobs as tend to flatten and make them look saggy!).

I would also suggest backless halterneck styles, high at the front, again quite a few around with wafty skirts.

BigButtons · 24/05/2023 12:55

@whereaw that makes perfect sense. I have quite a few floaty jumpsuits too.
I like the idea of the halterneck dresses.
anything with a waist looks risky on me. My ‘waist’ is high- I am longer legged. So the waist line never sits in the right place. I have short sticky out ribs too which adds to the problem.
I am making myself sound deformed 🤔😮

I sound quite similar - really straight up and down, but I'm shorter.

I like things that are maybe A-line? Is that the right word? Like a t-shirt but it just keeps going down to about mid thigh.

If I wear anything with a waist it needs to be just under my bust (hah) which I think is maybe empire line? Then it gives me a tiny bit of shape.

If you are comfy in trousers what about a floaty jumpsuit or playsuit?

powerrangers · 24/05/2023 13:37

You have exactly the right shape for floaty dresses. Those of us with big boobs can look matronly or pregnant in them.

BigButtons · 24/05/2023 15:45

@minipie I quite like the halterneck one. Halterneck an are good for the small or chest I think?
That one looks like it has a waist line- not so good for me. Like @WhyAmITired I suit empire line better because of where my waist sits on my body- hard lessons learned in the past!
the smock dress is pretty on many I am sure but reminds me too much of dresses little girls wear and I am waaaay too old for that sadly 😮

It does have a waist, but a high waist? If you prefer waistless then there is this sort of shape - looks a bit maternity on people with boobs but great on someone without.

I know exactly what you mean about the smocking! Some are more little girly than others but I agree a lot of them are a bit too much in that direction.

Shintyhappypeople · 24/05/2023 16:37

@BigButtons from your description I am exactly the same shape as you, even down to the ribs Grin I've always shied away from floaty but I'm going to follow this thread now.

BigButtons · 24/05/2023 16:41

@minipie that’s more like it! I love the length too. The cos one is a beautiful colour- bright colours work best with my skin tone. I wonder though whether orange and hot weather makes people look hot? I do really like that colour……

couple of mint velvet options

pink pattern

navy pattern definitely couldn’t wear this one with boobs!

minipie · 24/05/2023 22:11

I own this and it would definitely be better on your shape!
