What cream do you use for eyelid excema?

I seem to have developed a patch of excema on one eyelid, it's not sore but it's rough and red like excema. I've been using CeraVe but it's not helping, any other ideas?

Do you get excema elsewhere on your face/body? I would check it's not contact dermatitis first. Are you taking any actives near your eyes? Are your eye make up products in date? Are your make up brushes clean?

SardineJam · 20/05/2023 08:28

I have had this and was recommended Bepanthan, it really worked! Took about 2-3 days but took away the initial itch/discomfort almost immediately

Neutrogena intensive hand cream. Only one I use on my eyes. It works!

Just dry skin else where, don't think it's contact, only wear mascara and I change it every 6 weeks.

I now use Blephasol lotion (it's actually a liquid) twice a day which works as an eye make up remover too as I found misceller water which I'd used for years to do this, was making the irritation worse.

I also have been using an eye cream by Pai (a UK brand) for almost two months now and have been symptom free for the longest time in over a year. I found that my eye skin had aged massively since getting flare ups. It's starting to gradually recover now. The eye cream isn't cheap but they have a 90 day money back which a great when you are possibly wasting a tonne of cash on buying products only to find they either don't help or make matters worse. Even several cheap products become expensive when you can't use them.

Hope it gets better soon OP

Not to be confused with Prai Grin

Which I'm sure is also a great brand but wanted to make the distinction they are different!

I'll take a look at it if the Bepanthan doesn't work. I use a wash cloth and water to remove my mascara(Maybelline, been using it years as can me removed by water ) as I have sensitive eyes and most remover irritate s apart from CeraVe Micellair.

What a pain in the arse (eyelid!) it is🙄

Hydrocortisone for a couple of days to clear it. The doctor won't recommend it though.

ThisNameIsDifferentFromTheLast · 20/05/2023 09:20

If it persists and the above doesn't work then a prescription for Protopic would be my advice.

I get psoriasis on my eyelid crease and a tiny amount helps to clear it up in no time.

Otherwise, Avene has a very gentle eye cream which helps to keep the area hydrated.

Actually I have just remembered the GP did tell me to use this years ago when I had something similar and it wouldn't clear. Thanks for the reminder, if nothing else works I'll use a dab of it.

Have you changed your shampoo/conditioner? This happened to me when I used a purple shampoo intermittently for a while. Cleared up when I stopped.

No but have changed a hair cream I use before drying,I'll stop and see if that helps

LRP Cicaplast will cure your ailments.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/05/2023 23:52

Long-term eczema sufferer here, including on my eye lids. Ducray Dexyane MeD Palpebral is the best eye cream I've discovered. It is specifically for eyelids prone to eczema but does not have hydrocortisone, so can be used long-term. I use it for prevention mainly now

Haywirecity · 23/05/2023 01:01

Vaseline. Takes a bit of time but is easy to reapply during the day. Mine had gone within a couple of weeks.

If you get it in your ears, that's a whole different ball game.
