What is happening to my face??

I am in my early 40s and my face appears to be changing in a weird way. I have quite a good skin, very few mimic wrinkles, no sagging - so it's not aging signs as such. But the face shape seems to have become wider, rounder, my eyes are smaller and my nose bigger. I haven't put on weight, my BMI is 20,5 so I have no idea where it is coming from!

I compare my current photos to 4-5 years ago and it's almost like a different person. On zoom calls I can barely see my eyes, they look so narrow and small and my face is huge.

Has anyone come across anything like that? I have no idea what to do! I have been making an effort to try delay looking older - but now instead I am looking uglier.

What does "exercise a lot" mean? Over exercising could actually lead to inflammation

Definitely with age lips shrink and eyes appear smaller as the skin around them becomes less elastic and droops.

I'm sure I've read somewhere too about it being common for faces to get wider, especially if you grind your teeth, as the jaw muscles can become overdeveloped.

I can remember my mum saying, maybe in her 50s, that she looked in the mirror and didn't recognise herself 😢

I'm starting to understand what she meant, especially for me since my eyes have started getting puffy and I can't work out how to reduce that but it really makes me look older (well I am older 😂).

Just starting to have that shocked reaction when I look in the mirror, as what I see there doesn't match what's in my head!

@OnTheRoll Bear in mind that if you have botox while it’s effective you are not using those muscles in your face so you’re actually doing the opposite to what the lovers of face yoga etc swear by. Long term those areas will lose tone and flatten everything else. You need plump toned muscles to give your face shape. Botox is good at what it does but there are definitely consequences.

I do use botox (no other injections, no fillers, etc.), about twice a year, don't know if it's too much

I would say that's your answer.

Ugh, I already have a really round face despite being a slight size 6-8. Could it get even worse with age?

This is what I thought too. This is happening to me and it’s weird as I’ve always looked my dad until now (early 40s)
