Help! Clothes for a city break this weekend.

I’m going on a city break with a group of kids as a parent helper. It’s 2 days and all I’ll have is a backpack.

Usually on this sort of trip, I’d wear a midi skirt, Birkenstocks etc but I think this trip is all about being practical.

I don’t feel like I have any appropriate clothing to take with me. I live overseas but can shop from ASOS with next day delivery.

The packing list for the kids includes sensible walking shoes/boots, so I’m wondering if I can get away with my Birkenstocks as they are very comfortable for me.

We’re going Friday to Sunday and I’ve attached the weather forecast to this post. I haven’t a clue what to wear. I do have a thin hunter waterproof coat that I’ll take, but I need to travel light.

Any outfit suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks.

Also, I never leave the house without makeup, and on this trip, I’ll need to. I’m really worried about that, because I know I won’t feel my best, so I do want to feel as nice as I can in my clothes.

Two pairs of shorts
two T-shirt’s
hoodie
soxks
pants.
Trainers
If you can find some trousers that zip off into shorts - they would work.

I'd take trainers, light trousers, t shirts and a light jumper or cardie for evenings.

Why do you have to go without makeup? 😲

Also, incase it’s relavent in any way, I’m size 10, early 30’s.

I have to go without makeup because there will be a number of children to sort in the mornings and I doubt I’ll have time. If I do have time, it’ll be a very pleasant surprise! I may manage some foundation and a bit of bronzer, but I usually wear quite a bit. So it’s quite a daunting prospect.

What difference does in make? It’s two days with a group of kids!!

Nobody cares what you wear or if you have makeup on!

I think I’d take trainers tie to bag if you don’t want to travel in them. I don’t think Birkenstocks if you mean the slip on type probably would be secure enough. Weather doesn’t look that great ( very hot) for shorts to me certainly wouldn’t take 2 pairs. I don’t see why a skirt/ jersey dress wouldn’t work if you’re not likely to be hanging upside down. I’d take a thin jumper as evenings look cooler.
foldable raincoat.
Im not sure why you’re makeuplless. Quick rub of bb cream , mascara, lipstick will make you feel better. I never go without mascara.
wipes and sick bags.

I don’t dress nicely to please other people. I do it for myself.

But the op does or she wouldn't have posted.

For makeup I'd take tinted moisturizer. Super quick to apply and will help with sun protection if it has SPF. I'd also take tinted lip salve for the same reasons.

For clothes I'd take t-shirts and light cotton trousers along with comfortable shoes for walking, for me that would be trainers but whatever works for you OP.

I'd take a hoodie as well.

What a bizarre comment on a style and beauty thread Confused

Having done a few city breaks with kids recently with similar sort of weather, here is what I have been taking more or less - mine have have all been 3 nights/4 days so a bit longer so assuming you're 2 nights and 3 days, I'd go with:

2 pairs of light trousers to your preferred length. My last trip I took a pair of cargo pants than end mid calf and a pair of sort of denim/linen blend ones at a similar length. Both with pockets! If you like a demin skirt, you could go one pair trousers, one skirt - either way, 2 pairs is plenty and you can rewear them.
1 light jacket that goes with everything you have - in my case, a demin jacket as rain wasn't expected.
t-shirt/blouse for each day
1 light jumper that goes with both pairs of trousers and will fit comfortably over all the tops - I took a cardigan on one trip and a v-neck pullover on the other.
1 warm scarf for evenings etc.
Underwear/pjs etc. I also always toss a few vests in but I get cold easily and like the option of a vest under a t-shirt.
My sketcher trainers that are comfortable for walking and can cope with minor amounts of water etc as necessary.

Make up - I created a sort of tinted moisturiser by mixing my Bobbi brown face base and foundation which I toss in my make up bag for these moments. cream blusher, mascara and eyebrow make up and a favourite lipstick and I feel like I'm okay. Also always take one serum and sample sizes of my favourite moisturisers.

That weather doesn’t look that warm. Not shorts and sandals. I echo what others have said and would take trainers, 2x light trousers, 2 x T-shirts/blouses, sweatshirt/jumper, a light jackets and a light scarf.
