How much clothes do you buy or want to buy - honestly?

I feel like there is always something else I want or need, I tend to buy something every month, no fast fashion, I have allowed myself £100 budget but often go a little over. Expensive items like bag and fine jewellery - usually ask for birthday / Christmas. Think about clothes and accessories a lot - anyone else like this?

I suppose it depends on your lifestyle, no? I don't buy every month- more like maybe 3 or max 4 times a year because I WFH and don't have many posh events to attend. Also location specific. I am in London and everybody I hang out with dresses very casual.

Yes most months I want things. I currently need to replace my worn out pair of Vejas, jeans, need new summer dresses, always something new takes my eye. I like the canvas tote bags like the marc jacobs ones too..

I’m much the same, buy a few thing most months and budget is around £100 unless it’s a coat (paid £130 for a Superdry one few months back but expect it to last several winters).

When I worked full time in an office and socialised a lot it was more like £250 a month but realise now I had way too many clothes - thankfully sold a lot on EBay.

I could shop for clothes all the time, both for me and my 3 year old. Theres probably not a week thats gone by in the last 2 years that something hasnt arrived. She's super tall, just growing out of 5-6 lothes at 3.5, and goes to nursery so has a play wardrobe and a home wardrobe. Factor in season changes and she goes through a lot, quickly!
However, about 70% plus is secondhand, from Facebook or Vinted, and I also sell on. I've had a target of 50 items a month out this year, and hit it so far, so I'm on a minus coming in for the year so far 😁

What I do need to do is start curating more, and not just buy because I like it, it's a bargain (my downfall) or for a dopamine hit

Rarely buy clothes. Sometimes I think I’d love to but I’ve so often found things don’t fit/look/sit right and so end up in the charity bag.
I live in jeans & T-shirts. I bought a couple of summer dresses last year that probably got worn once or twice each, might get worn one or twice this year.

DH mentioned recently I should get a new jacket because he’s sick of seeing me in the one I have. I worked out how old it is -it’s 8 years old! I have a long padded winter coat a similar age but a smart winter coat that only gets worn for Christmas nights out and funerals is around 22 years old Blush
I suppose I’m doing my bit for the environment.

I rarely buy clothes. I WFH, rarely go out except for shopping, walking along the beach and the odd meal out. I generally buy online- maybe every 3 months for a new blouse, or if something no longer fits or worn.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/05/2023 23:13

I buy too many clothes, too often - but I do buy a lot of them second hand.

This month’s purchases have been a denim waistcoat from Mango, Adidas Samba trainers, and an Anine Bing tee (via Vinted).

I think about clothes all the time. I have a little list in my head that I like to obsess over. Currently wool coat, just over bum length, will look ok wearing indoors and out, green.

when I find it, it will be see it, love it, buy it

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 13/05/2023 23:28

I tend to buy out of boredom and also if I see something and I want it I’m lucky enough to generally be able to afford it.

But I have way too much and need to be mindful of spending and save more (I do save but could do more with what I spend on clothes etc). I’ve cut way back on hair, beauty and makeup product spending though which is a good start!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 13/05/2023 23:34

When I was younger I rarely bought clothes and what I did buy was considered but more expensive (Pied a Terre black nubuck/suede peep toe heeled sandals, black suede heels with a fabric wrap over front, Russell and Bromley over knee boots, black suede shoes with hearts and stars all over them etc, sort of blush rose pink leather belt from Fenwick to go with a stunning similar colour skirt/trouser suit, Marilyn Anselm at Hobbs cream/ivory nubuck sandals etc, Katherine Hamnett black Bardot LBD etc) but I saved more for them and rarely bought eg shoes etc. I had less but more better quality clothes and shoes. God knows how my style/taste has changed over the years.

Since a lot of the shops have closed, barely anything. Used to love fashion but the joy isn't there anymore. Plus side, I have saved shed loads of money.
