Can you recommend a good face powder?

Please?! On a budget preferably, I haven't got the money to buy all the products like I used to sadly. I used to be pretty good with makeup but I've lost myself a bit and there's just so much choice out there.

I'm early 40s and am starting to show my age, my skin is quite textured now so I don't want to end up using what I used when I was smooth and line free. I really don't want to be enhancing the lines and pores.

I was pretty dry skinned before so my foundation never really achieved the dewy look, now I've switched my moisturisers around and changed my cleanser I'm finally feeling pretty hydrated but I'm now looking overly shiny. I don't want to be fully matte but just to take the edge off the sheen would be great. I used to use mineral foundation but I remember it feeling quite heavy which I'd like to avoid.

I also have what I think is rosacea on my cheeks, quite spotty and red which I'd like to hide. Dermatica seems to have made this worse so I'm taking a break from that until it's gone. I've replaced my daytime moisturiser with SPF which seems to have added to the shine. If there are any recommendations of one that is lighter that would be great too, I'm currently using the boots solan anti ageing one.

I love this one by hourglass (shade - dim light) - it's pricey but is by far the best I've ever used

It's not cheap but I've got a travel size that's lasted me a year and has lots left in it. By Terry hyaluronic tranluscent powder. I use it (30s) and so does my mum (60s)

Oh I love this - leaves your face feeling like silk but so pricey

That’s just reminded me I got that By Terry powder in my advent calendar. I have yet to try it!

Revolution Banana powder. Really cheap and is great on my combination skin.

I use the Laura Geller one (Balance and Brighten) but also her glow one). I love Soap and Glory Heck of a Blot and Boots pressed powder. I also have a Laura Mercier loose powder but it is in a drawer and haven't bothered to use it!!

Nivea shine control suncream is really good. And rimmel stay matte powder

I second the Nivea recommendation. I've used a lot of expensive suncream and I like this a lot. I prefer No. 7 powder though. I like Rimmel Clean and Clear powder but I haven't seen it for ages.

@nopeasplease I have this too but not quite sure how to use it! Do you apply it all over your face with a big brush? I have big pores on my nose and I think this may make them worse. I'll give it another try though!

Yep just with a big brush, but quite a dense one rather than a fluffy one if that makes sense. Sometimes if I want more coverage I also get some on a beauty blender and dab it onto certain areas before blushing all over x
