Practical but kind of stylish festival/camping outfits

I go every year to Glastonbury and I’m usually ok with what I take. This year is abit different I will be fat bold and prone to burning. People may wonder why I am bothering but seriously it’s what’s kept the treatment bearable. We are glamping and have pushed the boat out so hygiene won’t be an issue. I need to keep busy and make a list. I have a libe in my arm so sleeves are needed to the elbow. So I’m really going to go to town. I want some nice stuff. I was looking at a sequinned bomber jacket but it was over £200 I don’t want to be that OTT. I absolutely don’t mind spending it on beauty products though.

You need excellent SPF. If you don't need one specially for your skin with having treatment, I love Ultra Violette.

Style-wise, what sort of vibe are you going for... you say sequins, do you want full on glam?

RabbitRabbitRabbitHouse · 09/05/2023 11:47

Heliocare for your SPF and look on Vinted for sequinned bomber jackets!
Little lies do some fab festival dresses and band tee's and kimono type cover ups
Have fun !

Im not full on glam but I do like some sparkles. If money was no object id buy this https://www.rosabloom.com/products/supernova-cotton-fleece-chameleon and wear it all weekend. Its so hard as its so weather dependant. Do I do walking boots or wellies? Sun hats or wigs? Im so lucky I have a friend to give me a lift. Its a luxury Im usually on the bus.

SUPERNOVA SEQUIN BOMBER JACKET - CHAMELEON

The Supernova is not just any sequin bomber jacket. Hand-stitched sequins, soft & thick cotton fleece, and a high-quality finish set this sequin bomber apart from the crowd. HOW IT FITS • COMFORT: the cotton brushback fleece is a thick, high-qualit...

Ok, what will you be wearing on your bottom half mostly?

worktired · 09/05/2023 18:57

You could get some funky leggings (I love the patterns and quality of sturdy by design leggings), then a glam dress/long sparkly T-shirt.
Leggings will give some sun protection and the sports ones are pretty water resistant.

Example leggings here

It's so weather dependent you need to be ready to adapt as if its wet really most things go out the window except being reasonably dry and comfy!

I suggest trainers if dry and wellies if wet. Walking boots can be heavy and annoying when you wear them all day.

A half-sleeve cardigan might be an idea to cover arms but not be hot and bulky.

If you don't want leggings then cycling shorts (I refuse to call them the other thing) under dresses and skirts are great in hot weather.

BluebellBlueballs · 09/05/2023 19:06

Do what I do

Go on the clearance bit of next website type in 'sequins' or 'sparkle' in the search box, filter by size and voila!

I got a sequin bomber jacket for £12 and a lipsy jumbo sequin slip dress for £20

EachandEveryone · 09/05/2023 19:23

I think I need a list. I do need some kind of fleece for the evening and probably a long sleeve thermal. I mean its properly freezing there on a night in bed. So, I’ll need sun hats plus a wool one. I will need leggings and something sparkly and longish. Ive piled the weight on. Trpuble with w3llies is tha5 they are so difficult to get off,

What about low wellies? I can't get some past my calves sometimes so these are much easier

4rain boot

EachandEveryone · 09/05/2023 20:05

The trouble with ankle is that they are more likely to ge5 left behind in the mud

I’ve got a spreadsheet for Glasto this year, although it’s many years since we last went and we are lucky enough to have easy access to the car so I can take several options!

I have just bought some Adidas walking boots but am hoping I can do trainers tbh. I have low wellies if it gets really bad due to chubby calf’s.

On the sequin side, I have a great sequin kimono type top from next that I’ll wear. Also a sequin mini (I’m too fat for it really but it’s ace so I am being brave). I’ve also got quite a few cool t shirts from Disko Kids and Punks and Chancers (local brands but available online). I’ve also ordered a black play suit with pockets but that may not work with the bogs!

EachandEveryone · 09/05/2023 21:21

If its shorts it might be ok. I need trainers as well no point in open toe shoes. I need some that I can clean or maybe I will take an old pair that I can throw away.

I love those. I might actually get some for workouts/walks.

OldTinHat · 09/05/2023 22:09

I'm fat, 50 odd, fair and crisp up like a sausage in the sun and always go to the first festival of the year.

I take the see through plastic ponchos from Poundland in case it rains (which are surprisingly warm and windproof and still show off your festy outfit), silly hats, maxi dresses, Fitflops (even in the mud because your feet get washed off in the rain - wellies never stay on!). I also buy some crazy gear from the stalls to wear the next day but I'm loving your sequin jacket idea!

Anything goes really! You'll have a section in your wardrobe marked 'festival' in no time!

EachandEveryone · 10/05/2023 20:31

Thanks for your ideas. I need to get on it. I dont want to fall into the trap of taking abit of this and abit of that. I need a theme.

I love a festival but I also find it hard to find something to wear that’s practical and stylish. I’ve also been where you are and done camping festivals when I was experiencing hair loss. I don’t know whether you wear a wig but for camping/festival I found a gym wig with a scarf tied round the elastic bit worked well and looked good.

Fashion wise I didn’t really bother that much last year and just made use of what I had/was comfortable in like magic trousers/shorts (Amazon), plain T-shirts (next) and my favourite thing was my embroidered denim jacket (Levi) I think I’ll take the same this year and maybe add one of those crochet tops/poncho things that seem to be everywhere, would one of those work for you or perhaps a kimono, you could get one with sparkles/sequins?

I hope you have a brilliant time whatever you chose to wear xx

ScruffGin · 10/05/2023 22:32

@BluebellBlueballs that's a great tip, I've just ordered quite a few things to try on 😂

EachandEveryone · 20/05/2023 19:36

I’m still looking fit bits really. I’m just getting more bloated it’s so annoying.
