I have been using simple but even that is reacting to my skin, any suggestions of good skincare for sensitive skin?

I use super facialist oil cleanser to remove make up and aveeno daily moisterising lotion to moisturise. I have extremely sensitive skin and react badly to 99% of all the skincare I have used in the past

I’ve just started using Avene which has helped massively with my mid-chemo very sensitive skin. It’s a bit more expensive than simple but not too bad

tikkanaan · 08/05/2023 20:14

Aveene or Vichy are nice brands to use. Cetaphil do a big face wash that my sensitive skin likes

Simple isn't that good for sensitive skin. Like Clinique it was originally marketed at "problem" skin.

La Roche Posay Toleriane Dermallergo range is brilliant.

itwasntmetho · 08/05/2023 20:26

Another vote for Avene I bloody love it. Shop around because it has a fake top price like baby bell, you’d be really unlucky to ever buy it full price but they need a silly full price so you feel like you’re getting a bargain. You can usually always get their products for about a third less than full price somewhere. The tolerance hydra 10 is lovely and the tolerance cleansing milk.

I didn’t realise that, the simple water boost cream gel made me feel like my skin was burning.

I would go very stripped back.

Inky List Oat Milk Cleanser
Ilyoon Ceramide Cream (Korean you can buy from yesstyle or stylevana)
Altruist Spf

And not do anything else for a while and let your skin settle

labyut · 08/05/2023 20:48

Thanks will have a look at the suggestions

There is a free app called Yuka. You can scan products while in Boots etc. and it gives you rating. Simple does not rate well. Not so simple after all!

BeverlyBrook · 08/05/2023 22:01

Simple is full of stuff. Not simple at all. Bloody good marketing though.

I love the wild mint 5 step kit. It's the only thing that hasn't caused my skin to break out in years of trying different ranges.

shortpeopleproblems · 08/05/2023 22:16

La Roche Posay toleraine range, it has been life changing for my skin. It feels beautiful instead of red, patchy and angry. It's wonderful stuff.

Nanalisa60 · 08/05/2023 22:22

Aveeno calm & restore , I have the whole range and it’s helped my skin less red and less break outs.

Anyfeckinusername · 08/05/2023 22:29

Anything by La Roche Posay. It is brilliant.

florenceandthemac · 08/05/2023 22:31

Aveeno

NewAnon · 08/05/2023 22:35

As per several PPs the French Pharmacy brands; Avene, La Roche Posay, and Vichy work well for my sensitive skin. I also rate CeraVe cream cleanser.

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/05/2023 22:45

Try Alumier's sensitive range. You may need to repair your skin barrier which is why it's so sensitive.

My skin is mega reactive due to dermatitis and I used to swear by Avene Skin Recovery Cream but they changed the formula and I cannot wear it anymore.

I use LRP Toleriane cleanser, Bioderma Hydrabio serum and spritz of Avene Thermal Water; wait for the skin to absorb and then it's Bioderma Sensibio Defensive regular for day and the Hydrabio cream for night

I have super sensitive skin and react to most products.

I’ve scaled it right back for the moment after giving myself an accidental chemical peel with a toner. 🥴

at the moment my super simple routine is glow recipe blueberry cleanser, cosrx snail mucin and Tatcha dewy skin cream.

im hoping to add back in the ordinary niacinamide ones my face settles down.

professionalnomad · 12/05/2023 15:17

I have very sensitive skin and I use La Roche Posay Lipikar range for myself, my toddler and my newborn. Very very gentle and soothing.

Domesticgoddess304 · 16/05/2023 20:10

Curel from boots or Amazon is excellent.

Bovrilla · 16/05/2023 20:15

I am v sensitive. Niacinamide irritates the hell out of my skin, I can't use any spot creams beyond salicylic acid and retinol is a definite no go! Massively allergic to chemical suncream too

Current faves:

the inkey list oat cleansing balm
Glossier milk gel cleanser as second stage
The Ordinary natural moisturising factors
Sunprise Mild Airy Finish factor 50 mineral sunscreen.

None of these piss my skin off or make it break out.

PercyPigs1 · 16/05/2023 20:52

I have been delighted with everything from Pure Lakes especially the facial oil, cleanser, eye cream and hand washes

I've bought the niacinamide from Dr Jart and I thought "Oh, my skin has never felt so smooth" just for it to become raw steak after a few days 😬

Aveeno Daily Moisturiser was the most soothing non-reactive cream on the market. Loved and used by thousands. So, when you have a winning product what do you do? Change the formula of course. Now it stings if applied to eczema or damaged skin. I hate the makers. Any suggestions for something, non fragranced, that I can replace it with?
