I think the big lip trend may pass fairly soon.

I think trainers and generally more casual footwear is here to stay.

I think the fashion for brows may soon become thinner again

I hope the lip filler thing passes!

And I'm hoping I'm wrong, but wouldn't be surprised if we see a move back towards thinness as more fashionable (as opposed to curvy / thick).

Howtohideasausage · 07/05/2023 22:15

I think dresses and trainers are here to stay.

I don’t think the ‘thick lip’ look eill
last forever.

Oh yeah big lips are out for sure!

Agree with you OP.
Thin: I've just been on the Sezane app and I'm kind of shocked at how thin one of their models is.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/05/2023 22:43

I'm waiting for the Sperm Eyebrow to come back , mine were like this in the late eighties......and never recovered .

Gilets I hope will stay , I bought one from Costco , bum covering length, zipped pockets and just so damn handy

Glad the huge over sized coats that were in fashion a couple of years ago shrivelled off and perished .

But on a sad note - Animal Testing on cosmetics will be re-introduced . I search to find non tested products and I;ve booted some brands out of my life now they're selling in China . But it seems this will be across the board for cosmetics .

RayonSunrise · 08/05/2023 07:25

The heavy 1960s/80s-influenced makeup trend is already passé with the teens, I've been firmly informed by my daughter. Obvious false eyelashes (and extensions!), augmented brows, overlined lips, contouring, "baking" - all viewed as too much now.

I'm seeing a big swing back to that early 90s "no makeup" look. It's all glowing skin (which will actually require a fair amount of makeup after lots of skincare, just with a super-light touch), a touch of glitter on the eyelid, sheer gloss or a bit of lip stain, and simple hair.

Oh I really hope not. 😩

Yeah I think big lips and instagram face will be on the way out but it will take a lot of curvy-positivity with it -- back to 90s style Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy / Gwyneth 'stealth wealth', natural makeup, and very thin

LunaTheCat · 08/05/2023 09:32

I do hope that “Little House on the Prarie” dress look goes.. all buffy sleeves and ditsy prints.

Possibly - if the new icon is the old Kate Moss (90s teen Kate, not Naughties blonde & tanned boho Kate), then body positivity might take a hit. I'm not convinced that the Instragram face/skinny thicc look has been the sole driver of body type diversity, though. Pure economics (bigger population, bigger clothes) have made plus size fashion a significant force. I think we'll continue to see plus size models selling clothes on standard fashion sites for some time yet.

Completely agree that the girls who wanted lip injections and Brazilian butt lifts will switch to diabetes shots, though. Some people really do regard their bodies as clay they should be able to shape to meet trends.

Thinness never went out of fashion. Stick thin celebrities far outnumber curvy or fat ones.

Highdaysandholidays1 · 08/05/2023 10:55

I'm sad about this body trend change, my dd's have noticed it and one of them has an eating disorder, really doesn't help though I'm sure that's not what's driving her issues, it just reinforces them.

The very fake-looking lashes are looking dated and I've noticed the posh students at work have much more discrete ones or none at all. My dds don't wear them. It's all about the good skin/extending on from the clean girl aesthetic, making the most of your own colouring and ethnicity. Some are deliberately wearing 'ugly' make up but I don't think that's a trend that's going to hit Style and Beauty any time soon!

I think trainers and lower heels will stay in, despite the parade of stilettos we saw for the coronation! They looked dated/like wedding wear.

I was out and about yesterday and most of the young women I saw were dressed like they were off to meet Rachel and Monica in Central Perk in 1994. It isn't an obviously artificial look.

VenusClapTrap · 08/05/2023 12:05

I hope hairy muffs come back. Dd is about to hit puberty and I really really hope she doesn’t feel pressure to wax off the lot.

I also feel very sad about the return of animal testing. This country is regressing in so many ways.

violetpixie · 08/05/2023 13:49

Praying the low waisted baggy trousers and skirts 😭 go out

VenusClapTrap · 08/05/2023 13:57

Bright colours is a current thing that I hope soon passes - purely for selfish reasons, because they don’t suit my colouring! I look a lot better in soft, muted tones and they’re hard to find at the moment. It’s all bright reds, greens, electric blues. Lovely on others, terrible on me (sob).

Me too Venus, struggling to find summer clothes in muted colours at the moment 😩

I haven't heard about the animal testing, where can I find some information on it please, if it's happening I will have to stock up on my cruelty free makeup.

Mojoj · 08/05/2023 16:56

If body positivity equates to more and more people "embracing" their obesity, then I won't shed any tears over its demise.

Hairbrushhandle · 08/05/2023 17:01

Hopefully those eyebrows that are brushed upwards to create a surprised hedgehog look

There's a post in the "News" topic and there was another on either Chat or AIBU but I didn't post on that one so I cannot find it .

In the link , I stopped short of looking at the photo but be aware if you view it the likehood of the content (and the OP put a trigger warning up )

From what I can gather it's to protect the people involved in manufacture of items like sunscreen and concealer .
But in this day and age there must be filtration?

I'm sure a lot of people will boycott many brands due to this though sadly there are many who won't .

Zipps · 08/05/2023 18:24

I won't be buying any skincare, haircare or make up that is tested on animals. I haven't since I started using them in the 80's.
I love the metallics trend it's right up my street so hopefully that will stick around.
Also grey hair seeing as I've now got almost a full head of it 😊
Not keen on all the fillers, Botox especially on lips. I'm not sure about the gym/lounge wear luxe I wasn't keen at first but it's getting more tempting.
I think heels and tall boots are due to come back in although no one will give up their trainers/converse etc now.
