Thread Vein Removal

I had a close look at my face today in the magnifying mirror. It was like a horror show! Now in my 50s, ageing eyesight has saved me from the horror of thread veins around my nose and chin (with a few on my cheeks).

I have a pale complexion and I remember a great aunt, with my colouring, was very ruddy in her old age.

I drink alcohol but not much, I eat spicy foods but I drink lots of water, I exercise and generally look after my skin.

I think my colouring is prone to this - after exercise, my face is ridiculously pink. This has always been the case over the years no matter my fitness level which has fluctuated. Very embarrassing!

Is thread vein removal easy, successful, pain-free, expensive?

Can anyone share any knowledge or experience please?

I’m prone to red veins and have tried everything going. From my own experience, the only things that have worked have been advanced electrolysis and Thermavein. It a hard to find Antone who does electrolysis properly now.

I have also had laser and IPL with no success. This was quite a few years so maybe it’s improved. Over the counter creams don’t work.

Anyone!

I am having laser treatment, I've had two sessions now and the next in two weeks. However I cannot see any difference whatsoever, so after the next one will probably stop (I paid £550 for a course of three treatments). Really disappointed.

@PenguinTattoo what type of laser treatment are you having?

MikMak · 06/05/2023 22:05

I've had successful laser removal of thread veins around my nose. Hurts like hell for a millisecond with each zap - like a mini hot poker. Sometimes takes a couple of treatments, but think it depends on practitioner. Last lady reduced them with couple of treatments but subsequent beautician (few years later) got rid of a particularly stubborn vein first time. Really impressed.

sauvignonplonk1 · 06/05/2023 22:14

@MikMak was it pulsed dye laser you had?

PenguinTattoo · 06/05/2023 22:16

IPL

IPL

Sorry, pressed send too soon - Intense Pulsed Light

MikMak · 06/05/2023 22:25

I think mine was IPL

sauvignonplonk1 · 06/05/2023 22:27

@PenguinTattoo I had the same experience with IPL which is why I asked. I've booked to try a session of Vbeam Pulsed Dye Laser which is supposed to be the gold standard in treating broken veins/rosacea.

I’ve recently had laser treatment on thread veins. Hurt like hell, bruised for a week. Absolutely zero difference.

Thank you, that's interesting.

Just checked, yes IPL. Can take a few days and up to a week or 2 for veins to break down and disappear and you may need a top up every few years. I find bad colds sometimes make new veins reappear. Perhaps try another clinic?

Thelondonone · 06/05/2023 22:32

It worked for me and I saw a lot of improvement but they have started to return after 3 years ish.

MikMak · 06/05/2023 22:33

Never had bruising or scabbing from the treatment.

MikMak · 06/05/2023 22:35

My treatments cost around £40 for one session, one area

Thanks for all your input. Mixed results I see but it definitely gives me something to go on.

Or maybe don't look in a magnifying mirror again?? 😂😂
