I'm 41 and 42 in just over a few months. I've also discovered I'm deficient in iron. My hair has gotten very thin and I am quite in a tiz about it. It doesn't seem to be growing. Does anyone recommend any serums/shampoo/conditioner/vitamins treatment?
I also lost my mum within the year and I haven't any other family. I have a husband with whom it's complicated and 2 small kids. So stress might also be a factor. It's been a harrowing couple of years. Or it might be peri menopause. I haven't spoken to the doctor about it. They have prescribed iron tablets but so far it's not helping my hair. Before I order various treatments I wondered if anyone else who has experienced similar have any solutions that worked for you?
Thanks so much.

Why haven’t you seen the dr about it? I take high dose iron at night so tea or coffee doesn’t affect absorption.

Theres nothing wrong with asking the dr, hair doesn’t fall out for no reason but stress can cause it but so can systemic illness.

Get your thyroid checked, and maybe hormone levels too. Take a good quality high dose iron (eg ferrous fumerate). Do what you can to manage stress (yoga helped my hair loss, along with other measures). Take multivitamins with plenty of B vitamins. Eat lots of protein. Don't restrict good fats. If none of that works after a few months, minoxidil is worth a shot. A combination of all the above has given me relatively normal looking hair after a triple whammy of anaemia, thyroid disorder and bereavement.

Quadruple whammy really as I also have hormone imbalance!

You have to find out why to treat it effectively. No point in using regaine for example if your hair is thinning due to menopause. That said, if you want to throw everything at it, up your protein, take really good iron supplements withvitamin c, take high dose biotin supplements, address any perimenopause symptoms, use regaine and rosemary oil. Oh and have patience. It takes months to see a difference.

Thanks everyone. I had a thyroid and iron test and it was the iron that was discussed so I assume thyroid is fine.
Patience you're right I think it might be 6 months before I see a difference. I'm on prescribed iron tablets and after 3 months I've to have another blood test to see if there's improvement. I already feel I have more energy though so I think it's helping. Hopefully it will also help my hair. I hope it's that and not stress/menopause. It has been a bloody awful year though.

Thinking of ordering this

@CamelliaAndPrunus
Wow you've been through the mill too. I'm shopping for items at the moment. Lots of hype sound JSvitamins I think it's called. But it's pricy I may look at other options.
Hope things have improved for you. X
