Hooded eyes and Botox..

Embelline · 04/05/2023 19:43

I had Botox done 8 days ago and had two areas done - forehead and 11s. Saw results quite quickly - she said I might as I'm a real frowner so as soon as I couldn't actually frown she expected to see a noticeable difference and I had a much smoother forehead within three days.
Now, I'm really happy with my forehead.

However, I've always had wonky brows one moved higher than the other and one was way more arched - so she put a little extra in one side to balance that and account for that (not too much and I had about 70% of the full dose as my lines were heavy, so needed to say an effect, but it was my first time so she didn't want to go full throttle). I also have hooded eyes and crinkly eyelids and she did warn me that having this already means you're more likely to see a bit of drooping.
I have unfortunately, I feel like my eyes look a lot smaller, and my lids are now crinkly in an odd, noticeable way a lot of the time.
My eyebrows are still not quite the same and I have movement in one and none in the other (the one without is the side she put more in). This doesn't bother me too much as it actually makes it more natural looking on me, as my brows were like this before, they're just lower now.
My concern is that she said you usually see results after 2 weeks, and if the hooded eyes thing gets even more pronounced, my eyes will look like they are barely open!
If I've seen results already is it likely that it's just settled a bit quickly, so the drooping won't get worse?

Has anyone had drooping/more hooding before initially and has it worn off?

I did message her afterwards and sent pics and she said it would likely wear off in a few weeks, and she could rectify the eyebrows if I wanted them to be symmetrical but I think I'll leave that.

I was just wondering anecdotally what others had experienced? It doesn't seem to be noticeable to anyone but me btw!

And I did my research, it was done by a doctor at an aesthetic clinic where I know the owner and know how seriously she vets and researches anyone she uses - the lady has been doing it for ten years and I had two consultations first because I was nervous, and made well aware of the likelihood of drooping so it's not a shock, I'm just a bit gutted as I was still hoping to avoid it!

Thank you :)

So my brow is definitely still lower but I feel like the crinkling of eyelids is getting better each day. I doubt the low brow is going to get any better in the next week as I feel like that wouldn't be 'settling' that would require another tweak?
The result is that my forehead looks a lot bigger. But I can live with that as I've decided against any more tweaks in case it makes it worse, and next time I'm going to have a lot less dosage wise and ask her to inject where it lifts the brow instead so I don't get the lowered brow/more hooded eyes.

Oh no I was going to book my first lot but this has put me off. I didn't even know this was a thing.

It just sounds like it was too much for you. I had this happen the first time - turns out I’m quite sensitive to Botox so need less.

Embelline · 10/05/2023 13:55

Yes I think I must be quite sensitive to it too!

Hi,
I had really hooded eyes and my Botox doctor always avoided my forehead for this reason. I ended up forking out for upper lid surgery. It takes less than an hour, is straightforward and has made a huge difference!

Hi would you mind sharing more of this please? How much?

Did anyone give up sugar and notice their eyelids got less droopy? Sugar inflammation is said to make this area worse. I love sugar though so have not tried!

I'm a (medical) aesthetics practitioner.

It sounds to me, did you say it was your first time? That you're going to just have to have adjustments.
Quite often new patients to me do.
Once I know how their face works so to speak, i record it and treat accordingly.

If you ask your practitioner to even up your eyebrows by placing a tiny bit on your more mobile side
And they should be able to do a lift for the heavy eyes ( is it a medical practitioner?)

Lots of my clients come to me to treat hooded eyes rather than getting rid of the wrinkles which is an added benefit.
And you can do that fairly easily if they're a skilled injector with good anatomy knowledge.

Delatron · 15/05/2023 08:18

Yes I finally found a good doctor who managed to (very slightly) lift my eyes (not in a Spock way) at the tail end of the eyebrows. So I look less tired and more awake - gives hooded eyes a slight lift.

I have one more mobile side so even with the best doctors at my 2 week check I need this tweaked slightly.

ZootSuit · 15/05/2023 08:52

@Overthinkingperhaps could I ask where you are based please? You can do exactly what I am looking for!

Overthinkingperhaps · 16/05/2023 11:42

@ZootSuit

I'm in the West Midlands. Not sure if that's any good for you.

If not- you need to arm yourself with a list of questions.

Are they a medical professional?
Are they insured?
Have they received advanced Botox training?

Working in this field the amount of bad jobs ive seen and corrected never fails to amaze me.
Turns out it's a beauty therapist. No insurance. Only trained to give foundation level botox so work outside of their scope and just try their hand at advanced stuff.
Shocking and needs stringent regulations.

Ask ask ask and problems can be avoided.

Moaningkimono · 16/05/2023 18:24

Hi there,
What would you like to know? The surgery was really straightforward, very quick and has made a huge difference.
I finally have eye lids again.👏 I had quite a bit of droopy skin. When I applied eye liner it would smudge and I’d end up with a weird second line due to the excess skin.
This has all gone and my eyes look much brighter. I paid £1,750.

Tots678 · 31/05/2023 11:28

Just wanted to say I had 11s done and from what I could gather from beautician needed to have forehead done to to stop the 11s returning though this wasn't done on the few previous treatments I've had elsewhere.
My eye brows are lower and eyes more wrinkled. - Can't put mascara on as it goes on skin .
I would have said it's common sense that if you straighten out the forehead the brows will be lower. No idea why she did this. I didn't ask for it. I'm in my 60s she should have known imv.
Went back after 2 weeks and she offered to do above outer eyebrow area to lift it but I felt i'd rather just leave it and hope it goes back to normal quickly.

SaxSick · 31/05/2023 14:15

My doctor won't look at me for touch up until after 15 days.

SaxSick · 31/05/2023 14:15

and I have only once needed it with him.

Tinydancer123 · 11/11/2023 17:51

Where are you based ?
