I've lost weight so most of stuff from last year doesn't fit me now. I don't have a lot of money and am having a couple of holidays that need to be accomadated clothes wise.

I am going to Wales in June and NY & Carribean (visiting bfs family [scared emoticon] ) in August.

I am now a 12 , 5ft , 34c chest.

TIA

Oh and am going to a ball and my dress doesn't fit from last time so any ideas welcome. If it could travel easily & I could use it in NY it would be useful?

Ball dress - get something off ebay - some sellers in far east make to measure or you can get some designer bargains. Maybe separate bodice and skirt as wuld be more versatile.
For hols, lots of interchangeable vest tops, shirts, skirts, linen trousers from
Asda, Tesco, Primark etc. Plenty of sales on too.
Save on those and get a couple of really fab bits for when you first meet bfs family!
No doubt some style people will be on with some links for you soon...

Will have to check ebay, have until May for that. Just trying to limit my spend on clothes to a 'capsule' type wardrobe!

Buy stuff in NY

DV has apoint re buying stuff in NY - with rate as it is you will get things practically half what they would cost here and you will have a great wardrobe when you get back full of outfits not available in UK!

Jackstini · 18/02/2008 23:00

I mean 'a point'

Nymphadora · 20/02/2008 19:43

Thanks but not in NY til August and hoping I will need things before that.

eBay is definitely a good idea - and not just for the ball dress.
Better to get bargains that way than from the cheapo shops like Primark. How can they do it for the price? You know how....
If you'd rather try stuff on, why not try a local dress agency (selling good quality nearly new clothes). Type 'dress agency' and your town in yell.com.
I'm the biggest fan of dresses, because you don't have to co-ordinate! You could choose a few dresses with hot NY and Caribbean in mind and then choose some toning cardies/pashminas to keep you warm in Wales!!
Also, you're little, slim and quite curvy so that whole wide-legged linen pants thing won't work on you. How about a 50s vibe? Cute nipped in waists and neat little cardies. And you can wear with flat ballet pumps or heels, depending how much you want to dress them up.
Just casually put a flower in your hair in the Caribbean and you're away!!

I would beware of buying clothes off ebay...I've wasted money impluse buying, finding it doesn't fit/has stinky armpits etc.

For your hols in June, you can't be sure of weather, so buy a couple of pairs of 3/4 length trousers (I'm 5ft 3 & wear them), get some nice t-shirts - agree Tesco's a good choice. Couple of nice skirts & a crop cardigan + a warm cardigan for cooler days.

Watch out for 20% off at Debenhams & then book yourself a personal shopper towards end of March when there is usually a sale on & they are bringing in the new summer lines.

...oooh hark at me !
