Is this appropriate for a June wedding?

Hi all

We are going to a June wedding in the UK and I just wanted some thoughts on this type of outfit - it’s a green jumpsuit very similar to this below. Sleeves can be rolled up and it’s quite floaty.

Is it too casual/not wedding appropriate or do you think it would be OK? It’s an Asian wedding but they’re having a more ‘western’ wedding day as well.

Thank you!

Oh that is very nice! Good choice.

It's lovely for a western wedding. However, with you saying it's for an Asian wedding I would wonder if I would feel a bit under-done compared to how beautiful and detailed Asian wedding clothes can be.

SoPrettyVacant · 03/05/2023 09:57

@SummaLuvin Thats what I thought but we are only going to the western wedding day (the Asian wedding day is the weekend before and we already had plans).

If it’s a hot day you’ll be so sweaty, especially since it’s 100% polyester

SoPrettyVacant · 03/05/2023 10:01

@UnaVaca That is a very good point - I wonder if the floatyness would reduce this?

I was going to say - not for a summer no, you'll get all sticky and gross

No I think the floatyness will just mean random bits stick to you

SoPrettyVacant · 03/05/2023 10:03

Thank you everyone - I will keep looking!

Also I didn't realised until I saw on here but some people think you shouldn't wear green to a wedding

SoPrettyVacant · 03/05/2023 10:07

@broadbeanquiche Ive never heard that - how bizarre! Do you know why?

Absolutely no idea! I think it was white, black, green and possibly red?

SoPrettyVacant · 03/05/2023 10:14

@broadbeanquiche You learn something new every day! I totally understand black and white but red and green seems a a bit random. I’m going to have to google this!

For anyone interested, the reason is fantastic!
”According to Irish tradition, the colour green attracts the fairies and they could bring mischief and mayhem to the event”.
That’s my morning made!

Oooh I'm going to wear green!

I second the comment about the polyester. Yes, it is pretty flowy.

But you will still be covered by (flowy) polyester. I couldn't deal with it. (And I would end up looking like a buttery lobster....)

Mumsnet made me aware of the potential issues with black.

I'm originally from central Europe, no white (whatsoever) and no bright/scarlet red are the only ones I've ever heard of (or considered).

Avoiding green seems to be an Irish tradition according to a quick google search. Something about attracting the fairies? Idk 🤷‍♀️

VenusClapTrap · 03/05/2023 12:40

My bridesmaids wore green. I can confirm there was mischief and mayhem 😁

Asian weddings, even western style ones, are usually extremely glamorous. I think you need to up the ante on this one.
