Help me dress my bump!

So for those of you who like a challenge…I’m currently 4 months pregnant with my first child and am starting to get to the point where 90% of my clothes no longer fit. I need to invest in some new clothes to see me through the next 5+ months and i’m really struggling to find anything I like. Feel like I was already at a bit of a loss with my style and this is compounding it.

I’m based in a country with hot and humid summers and not great shopping options but most UK online retailers do shop here. I am 5ft and pre-pregnancy was a uk size 8 and a B cup. Currently look like I’ve eaten too many donuts but hoping my bump will pop a bit more in the coming weeks. I also have two weddings I’m going to at which I’ll be 22 and 27 weeks. Different crowds so happy to wear the same dress. I’d prefer to buy non specific maternity stuff that I can wear after pregnancy too but open to maternity wear too. I have a budget of £1000 but wouldn’t spend more than £200 on one item.

Congratulations op, the most exciting time! Having a bump is a wonderful thing ❤️

Basics first: a few really good non underwire bras and crop tops with some support. Maternity pants! Then several maternity vests and t shirts to wear with stuff.

I would invest in a jumpsuit from Beyond 9 to wear with a t shirt under and sandals

Linen dungarees from Clary and Peg

A few maternity skirts - Asos and Next did some good ones then take any of your usual light shirts/blouses do up one button mid tummy and knot the tails over your bump.

I never found maternity jeans or shorts wearable from about 15 weeks tbh. Tooo restrictive.

For weddings I wore some lovely Doen dresses- a lot of their styles are bump-friendly. These are pricey but look on eBay or Vinted for bargains under £200 ☺️

Thanks @iammother I like the idea of starting with the basics - feels a little less overwhelming.

Have also always loved Doen’s aesthetics so will definitely have a scout on eBay/vinted - thanks for the inspiration!

M&S have a fantastic maternity bra range! I’m 4 months pregnant myself and their style and comfort has been an amazing Godsend!

Congratulations!

From my own experience, I was only happy in clothes (particularly dresses) that had a tie-waist that I could tie above my bump. I also bought a few (non maternity!) Ghost dresses with an empire line and flowy skirt that worked perfectly through the changing seasons (with tights if necessary for colder weather). I’m normally a size small but can get away with medium and bought the dresses in a medium - they were wearable up to full term and still wearable post pregnancy now I’m back to my figure.

Non-fitted, sack-like clothes made me look… Like a sack of spuds.

Edited to add - I’ve just realised that this thread is a bit old, unsure that these suggestions with still be helpful to you 😬
