Like many other posters I've seen recently, I feel like I've lost my sense of style (if I ever had it!). I've just bought the following things but I'm a bit arrrrgh am I getting this right, are they too safe / boring, will they go together? I would ideally send some back as well as I can't actually afford all this!

I'm 10-12 (12 jacket/structured tops as I think I have broad shoulders, 10-12 waist). Fairly toned but tummy a bit wobbly/prone to bloat. 5'7. Shape probably quite rectangular/up and down, not that much boob going on.

Lifestyle is wfh most of the time, office 1 day per week (try to dress a bit smarter on those days - Hobbs dresses or just some plain black trousers and a top), quite active (walk/cycle a lot locally and also go to the gym), have 9 and 12 year olds so beyond toddler/baby sick phase. Like to be outdoors/camping etc. Colouring is classic summer I think.

These are the things I've got - are they ok / is it overly safe/boring? / how would you style (and have I got everything I need here without buying yet more stuff?!). Have sort of collected together the things that I'm hoping fit together and hoping this is a reasonable wardrobe for spring/summer.

These navy chinos
A white/silver lace Mint Velvet top from Vinted
This jacket, will go back unless I absolutely love it because it is so £££
Silver/teal belt
With a silver necklace, possibly this though I am also looking at necklaces I own already including turquoise/blue ones

Khaki zip top (I can't see that much green in this, it's more a dark grey)
Grey sparkle tshirt
These black wide trousers
These black espadrilles with heels

White/pink trainers
White short t-shirt from Hush to be worn with a green pleated midi skirt I bought in Spain for next to nothing. Could do with a different belt as it has a ribbon tie which hangs weirdly.
With Hobbs light blue denim jacket from last year
Green dress from Hush
Pink sandals
I also already have some pink trainers (like these ones)

And a couple of jumpers - this one and a stripy grey/white one with nice zipped wrist sleeve (Mint Velvet) from Vinted, white M&S jumper from charity shop. To be worn with jeans (have M&S Lily Bootcut, could possibly get a different cut but not sure what... I like bootcut as 90s girl at heart, but then don't wear with boots which I think is a no no!)

Also have some cream/navy vest tops from last summer and hippy/harem cotton trousers (Thought I think) which I will pull out for this year as well.

Am I channelling boring/safe, children's TV presenter inanity, or mix-and-match-that-will-never-work??

I’m an ex Goth too! Rejecting black was hard. But I did it!

A massive stack of boxes arrived today.

I have just tried everything on and have been pretty ruthless about style/fit, colour and fabric. Very helpfully Stitch Fix also arrived as I thought I'd give it a whirl and I pretty much hated it all, except perhaps a denim jacket, which at least helped to consolidate my choices about what I DO like! There was a dress where I liked the colour and cut but it felt completely polyestery and horrid on.

I absolutely loved this Albaray jacket but I am sending it back because it is very obviously not my colour on (but I would love this in blue or green!)... I had hoped from the website the white might have balanced it and made it a bit softer/pinker but it is very clearly bright red. It's beautiful though.

The Monsoon one that I linked to upthread works better on me because although it's black it has lots of beige, gold and pink in it to soften it.

Lots of beige, cream, white tops with simple broderie anglaise which I'm happy with.

I also love this dress from Albaray and this does fit and the colour does work.

I absolutely love the Superga trainers from Oliver Bonas with tiny bit of leopard at the back, feel really lucky with those as they were in the sale and the last pair was in my size!

I'm keeping the MV espadrilles because I actually really like them.

Now I need to sort my bottom half as I loved the pintuck denim flared jeans from Other Stories but I totally got the European sizing wrong and only just managed to do up the largest size I'd ordered (and not comfortably!). I think they have the next size up in stock though.

I'm keeping the pale grey suede jacket from All Saints.

So I am still looking for perfect flares and/or flare crop and/or barrel crop...

Everything else going back!

Agree the M&S jumper is not a winner, and not keen on the white/pink trainers but love the rest. The wide leg trousers are a good price!

Agree with this!
Love that necklace.

If you want pink and white trainers, I have these New Balance ones and really like them.
I also found cropped wide leg trousers in New Look that I liked so much I bought them in two colours!
I’m another recovering boden mummy type lol.. I loved the jersey dresses etc, but they feel really dated now.

It is all safe and invisible. My advice would be to think very hard about what look you want and then by the best quality or shop your wardrobe to create a complete look and then wear that on repeat. I think constant change of style and wearing a number of trends can look a bit gharish. I am French and we tend to buy less but get best quality so a good pair of boots, jeans, jacket and wear year after year. Think about what suits you best and emulate that. Don’t be so hard on yourself. I have fallen into this consumption trap occasionally since moving to England

I've recently found Sugarhill Brighton, as some items from my Stitch Fix orders came from there. You might like their stuff, @Rosti1981
