Best gym leggings for weights?

AdamRyan · 30/04/2023 12:18

I'm 46, getting a bit of middle aged spread on the tummy and am finding my leggings are rolling at the waist when I squat!
I used to wear nearly exclusively tikiboo but they just aren't staying put.

I've been looking online but there is so much choice and a lot of the reviewers are much younger and keen on the bubble-butt look so I'm not sure how accurate their reviews will be.

Please help me find some good gym leggings! I'm 5'3" 65 kg, big boobs big bum

I find some thicker gym legging material really itches and makes me scratch so I bruise too.

Happy to pay for pricier brands but only if they are worth it.

Another vote for sweaty Betty power leggings

Another vote for SB power 7/8 leggings.

I wear almost exclusively gymshark. I have some ryderwear ones that I like also.
I have 3 pairs of aybl 2 I love and one I hate.
Physiq apparel do some nice ones too as do pursue fitness

Do you wear gymshark seamless knit leggings? I always found they gave me a shapeless uni-bum unless I got the ruched ones and they looked like I had a cats arsehole. I kind of felt if I needed ruching to get bum definition then they probably weren't for me!!

Another vote for Sweaty Betty Power 7/8. I've tried loads of other brands but these are the best. They are very slimming.

Was doing yoga today with someone in front of me wearing really thin black see through leggings and white knickers underneath. Envy

I’ve not tried the knit ones but I’ve got a variety of seamless ones. I don’t like the scrunch bum ones at all.
My current favourites are the apex seamless. They are so flattering

Thanks everyone! Looks like sweaty betty is the way forward

Sweaty Betty Power leggings 7/8 length (am similar height to you OP). Get plain black - most flattering. There’s good second hand group on Facebook and also look at Vinted for second hand ones.

Theoscargoesto · 04/05/2023 08:23

Sweaty Betty
Either powers or I find zero gravity ones are slightly lighter weight and also squat proof

SidekickSylvia · 04/05/2023 08:23

I have SB and also M & S Goodmove (quite high waist, they don't roll however much I move) I do weight training and I'd recommend both brands.

I've never had a problem with USA Pro or LA Gear from Sports Direct for all my gym work - bought capri length leggings in a 2 for £20 sale and they have lasted for ages. Only ever use the black ones. Bought some others from Mountain Warehouse which were more expensive but OK. Really don't like spending any more than £10-£12 on a pair of leggings for gym.

Lucy Locket Loves do good leggings as long as you’re ok with bold patterns and the waistbands are broader so more comfy and stay up well.

Just don’t follow them on social media, that put me off a lot.

Be a bit careful with these. Everyone always recommends them but they are SO expensive and I’ve had 2 pairs now and they are not squat proof at all. Maybe if you wear thongs but I wear big pants and you can see straight through them.
I wouldn’t buy another pair.

Can’t see my sports pants at all through mine?

I had the yoga ones and I think they were called all day. Both were very see through

GCWorkNightmare · 04/05/2023 13:43

I wouldn’t expect yoga leggings to be squat proof?

The power ones aren’t see thru at all.

Gymmum82 · 04/05/2023 15:40

I would. You’re going upside down with your bum in the air in a down dog. They very much need to be not see through

The Uniqlo Airism ones are really good and even have pockets.

grooveraidiator · 11/11/2023 10:10

Would love to try sweaty Betty but am put off by the prices.

I have a couple of gymshark seamless leggings : "adapt" range and "sweat" range. paid £30 or so for a pair of leggings in sale inc delivery .

I'm a medium - size 12 and 9 st 10 or so and pretty tall for a woman. They are thick, supporting but flexible and don't budge. I also have " vital" seamless leggings but they are more for casual wear and are not as supportive.
