Shampoo for fine, parched hair that gets greasy quickly??

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced shampoo and possibly conditioner for very dry hair. Hair that is thin, fine, and despite the dryness, looks greasy two days after washing!

Whatever is used to wash my hair, once it's dried it looks like a birds nest. The only positive thing about this is that it looks fuller. It would be great to find a shampoo that leaves my hair looking in good condition, 'shiny' like all the ads promise.

Thanks in advance!

I have similar hair to you and use Kiels Rice and Wheat volumising shampoo and conditioner. For extra moisture you could also try usung either a conditioning hair mask or leave in conditioner applied to just the ends of your hair so that your roots do not greasy.

Can’t recommend anything shampoo and conditioner wise but when my hair was long overdue a cut and I couldn’t get to the hairdressers I had a little bottle of Davines all in one hair milk and it was a revelation! Bought a big one and honestly it worked wonders for the appearance of my ends.

Ethique citrus shampoo bar is one of the best out of the many I’ve tried.

Thanks for the suggestions, will look into them. My hair also tangles terribly after washing so it has to be untangled whilst still damp. If it's left to untangle when dry, it's so bad I often think I might need to cut bits out with scissors!

I also comb my hair through when damp to get the knots out. You can also comb through the conditioner when washing your hair before you rinse to help with detangling.

I’ve long but fine hair prone to tangles & frizz, it’s improving by following below advice:

Using a brush to detangle before washing (& only using that brush for ‘dirty’ hair)

Then only using shampoo on scalp, letting the suds just run through the ends.

Followed by conditioner mid to ends & rough finger detangling before rinsing.

Next squeezing out excess water rather than ‘ruffling’ with towel.

Leave-in conditioner mid to ends & combing through, ending with light oil on ends.

Drying naturally or just blow-drying at roots for lift.

Noticed difference right away, and even more so after old shampoo/conditioner ran out & I started using argan oil shampoo/conditioner/leave-in.

It’s cut down on amounts of shampoo/conditioner/shower time and the savings mean the extra spent on leave-in/oil for ends isn’t really ‘extra’ as it balances out.

This new routine has made a big difference - longer between washes, smoother, more volume at roots & a lot less frustration.

Maybe try it with last of your current products and if it helps your hair then it’ll only get even better when you do introduce new products recommended by PP.

I think think hard water and sulphate shampoo cause these issues. Try a cider vinegar rinse and bottled or filtered water and see if that helps. I have just started using the Champo Pita range, I really like it, but its not cheap.
