Is this smart enough for my sister's wedding?

Hi everyone,
Would love some opinions please as I am clueless about fashion.

I'll be 6 months pp at my sister's wedding in summer and need something comfy that I can breastfeed in. Would you say this is still smart enough? I don't have a role in the wedding if that makes a difference!

Thank you!

No, that's a day dress really, lovely for a picnic or lunch out but it's not wedding attire.

A similar thing but long and dressed up with big earrings, heels and a clutch could work.

MeenzAmRhoi · 28/04/2023 15:22

@ilovemydogmore thank you, that's helpful. I'm quite short so don't want too long but I'll look for something longer than this

Is it a breastfeeding dress? I only ask as I bought one to wear for a wedding and I couldn’t breastfeed properly in it! I spent the whole time having to go to the loo as I had to take my arm out of the sleeve and pull it down.

user4750 · 28/04/2023 15:33

No I don't think so.

flyingant · 28/04/2023 15:35

Yes, you can wear whatever you are comfortable in and feel good in.

Lovingitallnow · 28/04/2023 15:36

Do you have a cream coat you can pair it with? Dress it up for photos?

Megifer · 28/04/2023 15:39

Absolutely fine for a wedding. Cream bolero or jacket type thing to help cover up 👌

ExhaustedPigwidgeon · 28/04/2023 15:41

A cream coat? In summer? With a breastfeeding baby?

MeenzAmRhoi · 28/04/2023 15:41

@PercyPhelps yes it is. It kind of opens up at the front. Trying to find something that's easy to breastfeed in, it's not proving very easy!

@user4750 thank you and also thanks for the suggestion. It helps to give me an idea of what I'm looking for.

@flyingant thank you! I guess if it were a friend's wedding, I'd be a bit more relaxed about it. As it's my sister's wedding, I just wanted to be sure I was smart enough for the day and the pictures

@Lovingitallnow I don't, but I could check what I do have. Otherwise I might need to find something smarter then 😅 seems to be the general consensus

If you're on Facebook there's a page called 'can I breastfeed in it' which would have lots of ideas. Someone's posted this jumpsuit just today for a wedding!

MeenzAmRhoi · 28/04/2023 15:43

@Megifer thank you! I might keep it as an option if I don't find anything else as I like the style of it in general.

@MichelleScarn oh that sounds helpful, I'll have a look thanks, I'm on Facebook.

I really wouldn't worry about getting a b/f-specific dress. I found anything like that to be a) frumpy & b) useless.

Just aim for an outfit that's breastfeeding friendly - tho I'll be honest I went to many weddings when my DC were at b/f stage & I just wore what I would usually & headed somewhere private & stripped off if necessary to feed! At 6 months they'll be in a reasonably regular feeding pattern.

MeenzAmRhoi · 28/04/2023 15:45

@user4750 I love the John Lewis one you posted but in the pink. Definitely an option if not too long for me.

That's a good point. I'm finding the breastfeeding dresses not very appealing...probably why I'm finding it so hard to find something

I don't think it's smart enough if you would like to feel dressed up. What about something 2 piece? H and M do some nice breastfeeding dresses too. Keep in mind that breastfeeding can sometimes make the weight fall off, I lost a third of my body weight within 4 months, so the more last minute the decision the better in my opinion.

Sugarcube84 · 28/04/2023 15:51

I always like a wrap dress when bf’ing as I could wear a vest top underneath and pull the vest up/dress down so I could feed comfortably and discreetly

FrogFairy · 28/04/2023 15:55

OP, the dress you posted is really pretty and as a fellow shorty I love the length.
Please can I ask where it is from?

Lcb123 · 28/04/2023 16:00

it's really nice and I think it could be smart enough with a jacket, smart shoes, nice handbag and maybe a hair accessory?

tappitytaptap · 28/04/2023 16:02

I did a smart skirt and top I could pull up to feed for my brother and sister in laws wedding, it doesn't just have to be a dress?

CurlewKate · 28/04/2023 16:24

I think it's lovely- but maybe a bit too short if you're going to have a bump?

That's what I'd have done too. Maybe your baby will drink expressed breastmilk from a bottle or sippy cup by then too.
