About to buy some on Ebay - usually I'm a 41 but someone said to me get a size smaller then your normal. Any advice anyone? Thanks!

No, get your normal size, because you want your foot to be securely inside the raised edge of the footbed.

fishie · 16/02/2008 20:24

it depends on your foot shape. pls describe.

here is mine: i have long toes and so the 39 is really a bit short, but is excellent fit widthways (i have flipper feet). usually wear a 40 and really i think one is meant to have a bit more toe space than i've gone for. but the birk is fairly chunky so i can see why people might prefer a smaller size.

Funny, I saw the 'buy one size smaller' in the new La Redoute catalogue, but I never have before.

Lauriefairycake · 16/02/2008 20:27

They are huge - I buy a size and a half smaller. If you buy your actual size you get this horrid 'slapping' effect on the pavement. I also buy the narrow fitting as the normal fitting is really wide and actually makes my feet spread and be unsupported.

I love mine - I have 13 pairs

knickerelasticjones · 16/02/2008 20:28

I got mine in a shoe shop and was advised to get one size smaller. I have a size 39 but I would normally be a 40.

cariboo · 16/02/2008 20:28

I love mine, too. Go down if you're a half-size.

fishie · 16/02/2008 20:29

hmm bluestocking there is no toe extension room in mine. will get larger this year.

drusilla look here really excellent german company and cheap with marvellous deutsche post. i have bought twice from them v good.

Drusilla · 16/02/2008 21:54

Thanks everyone! I have long, thin, bony feet (mmm attractive, I know) so think perhaps I should go for a 40 then? I have the Redoute catalogue too, so perhaps that is where I saw the thing about going down one size.

Thanks for the website fishie - am having a look now. Just need to do the EUR to £ conversions!

Think I'm always tempted to get smaller size because they look better, and am always glad I didn't because I hate to be bumping into the edge at teh front or back. They do a narrower version of most of them in the actual shop.

Drusilla · 16/02/2008 22:07

I am being a tightwad though and trying to get them cheap off t'internet! Really I ought to get into town and try some on in shop first...

I vary between 40/41 but 40 is at least big enough for me - go to try them on in a shop first.

carmenelectra · 17/02/2008 00:16

I think they do. Im normally a 5(380 but have to get a 4(37)
