Last question re foundation! Mac or Dior?

Thank you all very much for all the suggestions re foundation and make up! Narrowed it down to Mac or Dior.

Real shame you cant have testers of the Mac products as had it done for me today and must say it looks good but not sure if I can get the same result doing it myself. Dior did give me some to try and it goes on very very easy and seems to stay and looks very naturel (but so does MAC)

Any hints?

Many thanks again

personally i am in a currently favouring mac stage. may change in a couple of years

NomDePlume · 16/02/2008 18:59

Diorskin. I love it.

thanks Pukkapatch, seem to lean towards MAC too as they have so much choice. Stage one is to get good foundation then will go for lips and eyes a little later (am a make up virgin really!) and they seem to have the most choice plus very very good advisors

yes. and excellent service. i bought some eye pencils from duty free in gatwick in october. but they kept smudging onto my upper lid, so i owuld get a black circle there too. looke very dodgy. in january i took them to mac in kingston, no recipts, no packaging. and they still exchanged them for me. i ended up buiying two brushes. service was soo good

pickie · 16/02/2008 20:14

thanks ladies!. Just had a look at prices and it would be over £70 for 3 brushes alone.

Why are those brushes so expensive (more then all make up together!) and do they have to be MAC or do you know of a good substitute?

mac is quite drying, dior is more greasy. mac thicker coverage .

i find MAC really works for my skin, which is fair but has yellow undertones.

i have combination, acne prone skin and Dior is too greasy for my skin.

pickie · 16/02/2008 20:38

Thanks, agree my skin is feeling slightly itchy (MAC) and didnt have this with Dior. Such a shame you cant have a tester of Mac just to try for a few days as itchyness might be just the weather or so...

Still tempted though!

Expat, same skin so might be wise to go for MAC. Do you use the brushes? (still cant get over it how expensive they are!)

The dior foundation I use is oil free

NomDePlume · 18/02/2008 12:39

I apply mine with a proper foundation brush

thanks NDP, think am going back to Dior and see if they have one that matches my skin better as the sample is slightly to dark and doesnt look as naturel as MAC but D feel better on my skin
