Hi there, can any of you knowledgable people recommend a good vit c serum for sun damage spots and skin brightening? There are so many and I don't know where to start.

I use the Inkey List 15% VITAMIN C + EGF SERUM and really like it. I don't have damage spots so cannot speak to that but feel it has brightening my skin.

I really like the Alpha H but c serum, lots of trial and error in getting to it though. Vitamin c serums are often either sticky or gritty but the alpha H one is really thin, lightweight, little goes a long way and it feels really nice. Can often get 20% off on Look Fantastic

I'm getting on well with the newish Sali Hughes one, bought my second bottle recently. It's 15% and seems to do the job without any irritation.

I’m loving Superdrug’s Me+ range and they do a vit c serum that I’ve started using in the last week. My skin is the best it’s been for over 10 years (I’m 42)

I like the Geek and Glow one. It’s cheap, considered a dupe for the £££ Skinceuticals one, and it’s freshly made, which is key with Vitamin C serums as they lose their potency relatively quickly.

I'm about to try the Geek and Gorgeous recommended above as I've heard such good things. My previous favourite, having tried lots, was Vichy.

Someone on another thread said the ordinary vitamin C (the cream, not the drops) got rid of their sun spots, I’ve ordered some and I’m excited to collect it tomorrow to see if it gets rid of mine.

I use Paulas Choice C15 super booster

I use the ordinary 30% cream it's great and has helped with my melasma. It's a bit stingy at first though.

lunaloveroo · 27/04/2023 16:21

I really like the boots no.7 one and I've tried quite a few.

MyLifeIsFullOfLemons · 29/04/2023 14:24

@traintraveller a bit?! I put The Ordinary 23% on for the first time last night and it was all I could do to not wipe it off!

woodhill · 29/04/2023 14:26

The lumen one is good

MyLifeIsFullOfLemons · 14/05/2023 09:07

I’m wondering if it’s doing more harm than good. my cheeks now seem to be starting to appear discoloured. I have spf 50 on my face daily and don’t sit out in the sun.
I think the darks spots might be fading but I just don’t know if I should continue or not. I don’t want to fade them then end up with brown cheeks!

How often do you all use it?

Indecisive20 · 07/06/2023 17:36

Sorry I see this is an older thread but you are best to build up with vitamin c, start with a 10% and then maybe go to 15%. I started with advice from a aesthetician and was said told that you don't really get any more benefit after about 15%

MyLifeIsFullOfLemons · 07/06/2023 22:46

Thanks for the reply @Indecisive20 I did buy a less % one last week and started using that instead, it does feel better and doesn’t sting at all. Can’t say I’ve noticed any improvements but I shall persevere then move up strengths.
Thanks again.
