Can you walk properly in clogs?!

Considering buying some clogs as they look comfy and stylish. I seem to remember that the last time I had a pair (in my teens..) I had to sort of grip them with my toes so that they wouldn't fly off!?

Can any clog owners please enlighten me!

I have Lotta from Stockholm clogs and find them really comfy, no trouble walking in them at all

Annabel073 · 24/04/2023 15:07

Yes, no problem. I wore them lots last summer/winter. Feel like they're out of fashion now that they're all over the high street though.

I wore some Swedish ones years ago and they were surprisingly comfy- once the leather softened a bit and I got used to wearing them. The wooden sole doesn't flex at all, so takes some getting used to.

It depends which ones you mean - I had a pair of Swedish has been sand ended up giving them away as they were the most uncomfortable shoes EVER. I don't honestly know how anyone would walk in them, the sole was a rigid wooden block and didn't bend at all.

If you mean the flat, flexible Birkenstock kind they are quite comfy I find.

*Hasbeens!!

Cannot stand any shoes where the sole doesn't bend.

FeelingwearyFeeelingsmall · 24/04/2023 15:34

I have some Lotta ones. They are hideously uncomfortable. They fit just fine but it's like stomping round on a short plank of wood. They have been relegated to the utility room and I just use them when hanging out washing or putting the bins out.

ShittyPeasantsFromHampshire · 24/04/2023 15:40

The high heeled Lotta clogs were all over the fashion blogs (remember those?) about 10 years ago.

I can feel my plantar fasciitis coming back just with the thought of walking round on a block of wood !

sarahb083 · 24/04/2023 15:47

Thanks - I'm not thinking of wood ones, just wondering if they'll slip off as I walk!

What sort of clogs are you thinking if not the wooden types? You don't mean crocs?

sarahb083 · 24/04/2023 19:56

Not crocs, something like this or maybe the Birkenstock clogs

I live in clog boots in winter. Love them. Toasty warm and very practical in bad weather. 12 yo dd has started swiping them now, annoyingly.

I also have some a bit like the ones you linked, op, but they’re wooden soled and have a leather strap across the back. Sort of closed toe with a sling back. I like them and find them easy enough to walk in. Not as comfy as my winter clog boots, but the heels are higher so that’s probably why.

neonjumper · 24/04/2023 22:28

My clogs in the 90s had a strap on the back but that still didn't stop me skidding across the station platform at Sheffield on my way back to uni !

I don't think my feet could take them nowadays !

sarahb083 · 25/04/2023 09:06

Oooh @VenusClapTrap your winter clogs sound lovely - where are they from?

Lotta from Stockholm

Bobshhh · 25/04/2023 09:24

Yes but I’ve worn them since I could walk and family trips every summer always included a trip to a clog factory in Scandinavia 😃

CharlotteDoyle · 25/04/2023 09:30

I have this problem too OP! I always put it down to my narrow feet not ever filling the shoes enough, causing constant slippage. Argh I hate having to grip my toes!
