Foundation for uneven/pores.

onebusymum · 23/04/2023 19:21

Can anyone suggest a foundation for the above that I can get from Boots or Superdrug please?
My pores are huge and despite using a primer my skin looks really rubbish, I just seemed to have aged over night.
I've looked at reviews for loads, but still can decide, under £20 please.

@APseudonymNeeded thanks, I'm OK for primer it's foundation that I'm looking for.

I would say invest in a primer like the pp suggested. If you know someone who is a student then Boots currently have 20% off for students at the moment. That might make the Porefessional closer to your budget.

onebusymum · 23/04/2023 19:40

@Niftythrifter ive got a few different primers the porefessional one being one of them.
its foundation advice im looking for, thank you.

You can have the best foundation in the world but it all comes down to prep and base. Regular exfoliation and a good primer can work wonders.

TheOGCCL · 23/04/2023 19:47

I don't think foundation can conceal large pores, it can even make them more visible. I'd say you have to treat the issue with skincare - maybe niacinamide?

onebusymum · 23/04/2023 19:52

@RicciardoPerez and @TheOGCCL I've got primers and use vitamin c, niacinamide and retinol, also other exfoliation throughout the week.
I've just finished my foundation, so just looking for suggestions of what to get next as limited to Boots and Superdrug in my town.
I'm torn between a good coverage foundation or a bb cream. One that doesn't sit in pores, or lines.

I have the same issue, the pores on my cheeks are enormous . I used porefessional for years as it was the best primer I could find but it still wasn't great and didn't last long at all. I've now swapped to the il makiage they advertise on Facebook but with the corresponding primer. Combined they've been far more effective on my pores than anything else and last much longer too.

Unfortunately no foundation will conceal pores unless it's so thick it looks caked on so it really would be more worthwhile experimenting with other primers of skincare prep (I also find a serum before the primer can help!) to get an even base

onebusymum · 23/04/2023 19:58

@Desperate1010 thanks I'll have a look.
I'm using Rimmel london at the moment and do like it, just wondered what other people suggest, I know that I can magically make my pores disappear, just curious on foundation suggestions.

A Korean BB. Erborian. Or IT Cosmetics CC.
Both fullish coverage.

motherofkevinnotperry · 23/04/2023 20:03

What type of skin do you have and what age are you? I've had to change my foundation over the years because of these things.

onebusymum · 23/04/2023 20:04

@NowZeusHasLainWithLeda I do keep.looking at these, but unsure of which colour to get, as I would have to order online.

OP posts:
onebusymum · 23/04/2023 20:07

@motherofkevinnotperry I think that's my problem, currently going through perimenopause at 47 and my skins changing all the time! Some says I would say its oily, others it can be dry.
I definitely need extra moisture serum and moisturiser on my chin, where most of my large pores are.

Another vote for the IT cosmetics CC - I buy it online as it tends to be cheaper, over a primer it really does make skin look great. I use a loose dusting of Maybelline fit me matte and poreless powder (£6.99 online) over the top and it really does make my skin look poreless.

If it's any help I'm a 1C1 in Estée Lauder (cool bone) and Erborian Clair and IT ivory light are perfect. (unfortunately I recently got IT light by mistake- it's just a tad too dark but I top it off with a bit of EL)

I'm 46 and also struggling. You need lighter, radiant coverage.

I've been using Maybelline dream radiant foundation. I've been looking at BB creams after a couple of my friends of a similar age have made the switch. Boujoir health mix serum is good as well.

I tried YSL touche Eclat foundation and it's just too heavy. Rimmel is a pretty good comparison.

Somedays I just need a full length paper bag 😔. Thanks hormones 🙄

onebusymum · 23/04/2023 20:22

@NowZeusHasLainWithLeda thank you.

@motherofkevinnotperry thank you, it would be good for a sample for everything you fancy! I know bloody hormones, just horrid at the moment!

Loreal infallible is great and doesn't sit in my huge nose pores. Its good coverage and not heavy at all. I cant wear it anymore though as the lightest shade is a bit too dark on me (i didn't realise til i saw photos😳)

onebusymum · 23/04/2023 20:29

@blackpinkinyourarea thank you, i do have that one shortlisted. What a shame for you 😕

I am struggling to find one too op but I was going to mention that I use a setting powder and it helps with pores

(I used to love the Clinique pore refiner but it is no longer available or anything similar - sadly)

onebusymum · 23/04/2023 20:36

@Slimjimtobe thank you, I havnt really liked setting powder in the past, or at least the ones I have tried, as they have made my skin feel dry.

My pores on my nose are quite visible through foundation. Porefessional was the worst of all the primers I tried.

I've given up on primer and this is what I do instead.

Use Niacinamde all over.
Moisturiser.
Niacinamide again on my nose.
Put Elf CC cream instead of foundation on, and stipple the very last of what's on the brush on my nose, a really small amount.
Brush over with loose powder.

It's still not perfect but it's better than any primer has proven to be.

WhereAreWeNow · 23/04/2023 21:05

I find Erborian BB quite good on my massive pores. You can get it on Boots online. A good concealer helps too.
I feel less is more with enlarged pores. If I'm too heavy handed, foundation makes my pores look so much worse.

onebusymum · 24/04/2023 10:44

Thanks everyone, I'm going to order a small erborian bb cream and see how I go with that.

I use No7 Hydraluminous and I love it - I have awful sebaceous filaments on my nose, and this along with Aldi primer really does make a difference.
