I forgot and bought make-up from Superdrug….

Which I have consciously not done for years because of the awful glue their security tags leave on the packaging. Well, I forgot and treated myself to some nice new cosmetics and now I’ve got home and wrestled the security stickers off I’m let with a sticky/ tatty mess. Instead of feeling treated I feel ripped off.

How can Superdrug have not worked out how to solve this issue over ten or so years on!

Eucalyptus oil will get it off.

APseudonymNeeded · 23/04/2023 17:50

Nail varnish remover removes sticky from labels, as does hairspray and wd40, there are even sticky stuff removers for sale.

I can’t say I would let this affect me, unless I was going to give it as a gift, as it doesn’t affect the contents.

Gingernaut · 23/04/2023 17:54

WD40 or Goo Gone followed by a little rub of cheap alcohol

Tankalina · 23/04/2023 18:01

Baby oil works too.

Leftbutcameback · 23/04/2023 18:18

Are these the sticky security tags which have thin metal strips in them? I know what you mean but warm up with a hairdryer and then peel off carefully and they should be fine

LunaNorth · 23/04/2023 18:19

Pledge will get it off.

IhearyouClemFandango · 23/04/2023 18:50

Oil and soda bic

PuffinsRocks · 23/04/2023 18:53

I can't say this has ever bothered me but it wouldn't occur to me to remove labels from cosmetics. It's not like SD sells anything high end.

DancingWithTheMoonlitKnight · 23/04/2023 18:55

I just leave them on. It never occured to me to try and peel them off.

DarkDarkNight · 23/04/2023 18:55

Oh god they are awful aren’t they. The worst is when it’s over the usage instructions.

It’s not a flat label though, it’s like a little box and it nearly always obscures the instructions for use.

BusterGonad · 23/04/2023 19:17

I absolutely hate this. If I'm spending my money then I want that item in perfect condition. Try a tiny bit of nail polish remover, but go carefully as it might remove the paint, shine etc.

It was on some eyebrow pens and lipstick and was covering the lid so I had to take them off to actually open it.

And, no, the product might not be affected but I don’t really spend my money to get a shitty looking sticky product. Sorry, if you don’t think I’m buying ‘high-end’ enough stuff to be bothered with but I still deserve a nice product @PuffinsRocks

I’ve used alcohol but unfortunately that has no rubbed off all the writing/ branding so it’s still shit.

Must remember not to shop at Superdrug again

Olive oil. Rub it on, wipe it off, sorted.

BessieSurtees · 23/04/2023 21:46

I‘ e proper stabbed myself today using a sharp pointed knife trying to get the wrapping off a maybeline foundation today which definitely wasn’t worth it. Thought I was going to need a stitch.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 23/04/2023 21:52

Heat the sticker with a hairdryer. It removes with no residue then.

DragonDoor · 23/04/2023 21:54

I second WD 40

moonspiral · 23/04/2023 21:57

I can't stand them. Always on the mascara.

CointreauVersial · 24/04/2023 13:23

Buy a bottle of Sticky Stuff Remover (can get at places like Robert Dyas and B&Q). I wouldn't be without it, as I hate sticky label residue.
