Thinking about setting up a clothing website

I am thinking about setting up a up a preloved website for children's clothing. I'm thinking about stocking a mixture of higher end brands: such as (quite a high inclusion of french brands because I love parisian style) Chloe, Petit Bateau, Tartine et Chocolate, Aden and Anaïs, Bonpoint, Natalys Louise Misha. I would also stock some mid range clothing brands such as John Lewis, Marks and Spencers, Joules, Organic Zoo, Jasper Conran,Polarn O. Pyret etc. I would only stock high quality items, that were still in very good condition. And I intend to keep my pricing very low and reasonable. Do you think that would be something that people would be interested in? I do think that people in these times are learning to be savvy without compromising, and I think that my website could help them do that. Of you have read my whole post then thank you!!😘🙂

Where are you going to get your stock from?

Possibly but then I also use Vinted. I’m not fussed by high end but I’m sure some people are.

I'm quite savvy at finding bargains in different places, yes I do use vinted so I totally get that

I don't think I'd use that kind of website, tbh. If I'm ever looking for 2nd hand stuff I tend to know exactly what I'm looking for and go straight to Vinted or Ebay.

I suppose you could snap up things that are priced v low on those sites and mark them up, but I'm not sure that's a sustainable way to earn a living.

Good luck with your venture, anyway.

People who want to buy those brands second hand can type their preferences into Vinted 🤷‍♂️

MichaelAndEagle · 21/04/2023 21:01

Would you be checking the quality? That is the only thing missing from vinted.
I think someone had this idea on the apprentice a couple of years back.

RoseslnTheHospital · 21/04/2023 21:02

I wouldn't because why would I pay a mark up to cover your costs when I could just get the same kinds of items from eBay, Vinted, second hand shops etc?

SparkleSpangle · 21/04/2023 21:03

It's a saturated market. This idea was on the apprentice a tear or so ago. If it would work someone would have done it already.

I think sourcing enough stock and being able to verify it would be your biggest issues.

Dotte was basically this but it’s just closed down. Personally I don’t think you can beat Vinted and eBay. They’re too big. Unless you offered some kind of additional service.
