I am a slim 5’2”. In the past I had no trouble finding clothes to fit me but recently everything is so oversized that I am struggling. Shirts and jumpers are ok but it’s bottoms and jackets that I struggle with most. Would love some suggestions!

I have just ordered a blazer from the new Whistles petite range so will see what that’s like.

I need some joggers for around the house. Has anyone ordered from love leggings? They seem to have a petite range.

Following with interest! I'm 5'2" but a bit bigger than some of you at a 12-14, but I still need clothes that drown me.

I the same size but just 5’
I’m still wearing “ vintage” ie stuff I bought years ago from the likes of Minuet, Principles Petite or Annie Brooks as I’m struggling to find anything in the shops. Plus the quality is dire in so many affordable things these days.

I revived my Whistles petite order and it’s a fail! Very disappointed. I am keeping one item - a black blazer it’s a bit oversized but meant to be I think so it will be useful for work to go with dresses.

But I really had my heart set on a blue linen blazer and matching trousers. Ok, I get that the trousers are meant to be wide and more of a baggy look, but they made no adjustments for how that would look on someone shorter. I looked like I was wearing a clown outfit!!!

for reference here it is - you can see from the picture that they are not flattering on a small frame but I wanted to believe they would look ok in real life - nope, they looked terrible!! (Link is to blazer but you can see the whole set in the photos. Also, I am only slightly shorter than the model but the trousers were much too long in me - weird.)

Great thread.
I have found M&S jeans in extra short are perfect. Their short range was too long but extra short are perfect.

PinkFluffyUnicornsDancingOnRainbows · 23/04/2023 00:07

Please may I join? I'm 5'2 but with relatively long legs, so I can wear regular trousers but need petite tops and dresses.

CUDet · 23/04/2023 08:46

I am 4ft 11 and size 10/12. I end up buying from Dorothy Perkins for work but the quality isn't great. I like M&S petite leggings they are lovely and soft. I also buy mini dresses from Superdry, Dancing Leopard, they end up being knee length.

YolayCaprese · 23/04/2023 08:49

Ah my people!
I recently ordered two different styles of petite linen trousers from ASOS. One were longish but ok, the others (dad style) were enormous and far too long. I'm 5'1" and about a 10/12. It's so hard now with so few physical shops to choose from.

InspiredToBoot · 23/04/2023 09:19

Shorty here too, plus mature, size 10/12. I find Boden petite pretty decent fit-wise, but the prices are outrageous and although the basics are still good, I am less and less keen on their patterns/fabrics.

M&S I find the worst. They might offer shorter trouser lengths, but the crotch/waist ratio is all wrong.

The high waist trend is an utter nightmare.

HBGKC · 23/04/2023 09:20

My people!
I'm 5'1, size 8 on top and (depending on brand and point-in-cycle) between an 8-10-12 on the bottom, pear-shaped with a small waist.

If I can find good-quality trousers second-hand (how I buy most of my clothes, so probs not much help to most of you, sorry!) then I'm willing to spend a little extra to get them taken up and re-hemmed. I've also done this with a vintage Kate Moss for Topshop bias-cut long skirt that would otherwise have dragged on the floor.

What I really struggle with are tops, as my shoulder-to-waist measurement is ridiculously small. And because I have hips and need to accentuate my waist in order to have any kind of visible shape beyond a blob, I need my waist to be visible, which it isn't when almost every top goes down to my hips!

So if anyone can recommend a source of short-bodied (probably almost cropped on most people!) tops/T-shirts/shirts, I'd be very grateful!

I'm 155cm or approx 5'1'' so marking my place.
I have bought teenagers clothes in the past only for it to arrive and say something like 'ladybird' on the rim. or the zip says ''mini'' of girls range, it's like a conspiracy to stop adult women saving a bit of money.

Lands end petite is quite good for trouser length

Notcontent · 23/04/2023 13:20

Yes, it’s all pot luck really as often the proportions are all wrong.

Hi @HBGKC I've recently bought a pack of the "boxy" t-shirts from rapanui and I really like where they fall on me. Just over the waist but not overly long.

Thank you for that link - they do look a perfect length, but as I'm so short I need a scoop or v neck Confused

Crew necks cut me off at the neck... which is unfortunate as 90% of t-shirts and tops seem to be crew or high-necked!

They do have some scoop and v necks too, but then the length seems a lot longer...

Oblomov23 · 23/04/2023 13:32

Struggling atm. Not pleased that M&S stopped /changed the length of their 'short' trousers.

Niftythrifter · 23/04/2023 16:18

@doglover90 I bought one of those jackets in a charity shop!

startingoveragainagain · 23/04/2023 21:02

Jeans from River Island and Reiss petite for lots of other things

Emeraldsrock · 23/04/2023 21:07

I’ve started buying cropped jeans from Zara. The sit at the ankle on me but I think still look good as any length seems to be acceptable these days which I like.

Addictedtohotbaths · 24/04/2023 08:01

Has anyone brought anything from Reformation petite range? It’s pricey but there are some lovely dresses.

Bedofroses85 · 12/08/2023 18:44

Has anyone found some good petite trousers this summer? No jeans and I really don’t suit wide or tapered styles. I think I look better in slim shapes. I’m really bored of wearing jeans all the time :(

littleteapot86 · 12/08/2023 19:26

There's a lovely small brand called The Shortlist. I haven't bought anything from them yet (it's not cheap and I am a bit skint!) but plan to in the near future.

I have a couple of pairs of these. Good material, ankle grazers but full length on me.

Saverage · 13/08/2023 08:21

Joining the thread...no suggestions but am tired of midi dresses being down to my ankles and having to shorten all trousers. I'm 5ft 2, with very short legs.
